Classic design elements with modern technology combined. The heat output of 5,200 BTUs provides supplemental zone heating up to 1,000 square feet. The infrared heat helps to maintain the natural humidity within the air, resulting in moist, comfortable heat without drying out the room's air. The concealed furniture quality casters make it easy to move from room to room. This durable heater is built with solid hardwoods and real wood veneers, and accented with beveled edges that add to its polished look. The unit comes fully assembled and is ready to heat right out of the box. Attractive, well built, and does the job!
I have a large room over a two car garage and it's always a little colder. I wanted a heater to help supplement the furnace and I took a chance with this one. My brother had a similar heater made by Twin Star and he really liked what his was doing for his situation. Come to find out, this unit that that carries the "Duraflame" name is also made by Twin Star. It arrived in the manufacturers box and I was a little worried about this when I saw it sitting on my doorstep. I was hoping that Amazon would of put another protective box around it. When I picked it up, I didn't hear anything rattling around so that was a good sign. Upon opening it, I noticed how well packaged it was. It has protective "wedges" to help the corners of the box stay strong and to keep things from shifting around inside. The box itself is pretty thick too so I think it has adequate protection from the wrath of shipping. The unit itself is definitely very "pretty" to look at. The color of the wood and the finish on it are very nice. It doesn't look cheap or fake. It actually does look like a nice piece of furniture in the room. My wife, who is very picky about things like that, even commented on how nice it looks. There is no construction for the unit needed. All you need to do is pull it out of the box, plug it in, and you are ready to go. It does come with a remote and surprisingly the batteries that it comes with are Duracells! The instructions are simplistic enough and easy to understand. It has a quick start section to get you up and running in no time. I had to calibrate the thermostat settings on mine because it was displaying a temperature reading that was a few degrees off from what all of my other digital meters were staying. This was very simple to do and the instructions really made this easy. Once I had it adjusted to my room's temperature, I set the heat level and watched it come to life. It has a fan that sucks in air from the back of the unit and a blower that sends the heat out through the vent in the front. The wooden part of the unit never gets hot to touch and the only thing that gets "hot" is the vents in the front. They, however, never get so hot that it would seriously burn someone. I didn't really notice a smell when it first came on...the instructions mentioned that you might...but I didn't smell anything that bothered me. I can stand about 12 feet away from the unit and feel the warm air blowing from it. You can't adjust the vents in any particular direction. It just blows straight out the front and up...not level across the floor. The unit is on casters (wheels) and allows easy movement and positioning. Once you set your heat level, the unit will reach it and go a few degrees higher. It will then go into a "cool down" mode in which the heat will cut off and cool air will purge the unit. When it reaches a few degrees below your selected heat level...it will kick back on again. Using it in with my furnace, I can usually warm my room up in about 15 minutes. I did use it alone once and it took about 35 minutes. Also, it needed to turn on an off a lot more when using it by itself. I am quite positive that this thing could handle a small room easily. Larger rooms would take a bit more time if using it solo. The instructions state that it is designed to be used to assist the heating that you already have. I've noticed that I don't have to keep cranking up the furnace to get my room warm anymore when using this. This thing requires 1500 watts...hoping the electric bill doesn't shoot through the roof! I've noticed others saying that they couldn't see a real increase in the electric bills...so for now I'll have to take their word for it. I've been using it for about two weeks now. There is a power button on the front where you can turn it on and off. I turn it off when I leave for the day but leave it plugged in. Leaving the power button on will allow the unit to display the current room temp and enable it to kick on when the temp drops. There is also a timer button where you can set it to cut off by itself but I prefer to turn it off myself. The unit will not run continuously. It will always cut off once it reaches it's set temperature. The temp range is between 50F and 97F. You can also adjust it to read Celsius if you prefer. The unit is not loud at all when it is running and the include remote works great from afar. It is surprisingly nice looking for an electric heater and it seems to be doing the job that I need it to do efficiently. It comes with a 3 year limited manufacturer's warranty. So far, I am pretty pleased with it and would recommend this for anyone looking for supplemental heat.Update: Jan. 19, 2016Unit still performs great. Haven't had any problems with it since I first started using it in 2014. The cold weather has moved in again so I unpacked this back out from storage and it continues to assist with my room over the garage. I haven't really seen any major increase in the electric bill but I only run it when I am in the room. Still very happy with this unit.

A really good room heater
We have three of these Duraflame quartz heaters, not all the same model, but they are essentially the same except for minor styling of the exterior. They are designed, according to the literature, to be supplemental heat up to 1,000 square feet but we use them as the sole source of heat in small areas, the largest area being about 17X30 square feet. For a space heater this infrared quartz heater is far superior to a filament type space heater and in my opinion much safer. It warms the entire room and you don't have to be standing in front of the heater to feel warmth. I find it amazing how even the heat is. We put the heater near a corner, pointing out towards the center of the room. The exterior of the heater doesn't even get warm. The cat will sometimes sleep on top of it. Air is drawn in from the back and blows out of a slot at the top of the front. The heater is thermostatically controlled but you have to play around a bit to get it set so the room stays at the desired temperature. Rather than relying on the temperature readout on the unit, use your own sense of comfortable air temperature and set it accordingly. When the unit kicks in a fan comes on and it is a bit loud. This is the only negative in my opinion, but not a reason to reject this heater, and loudness is a subjective thing. It is not really bothersome as it amounts to white noise.I'm quite happy with the performance of this heater.

Best heater worth every penny
The best heater I have ever bought. It is great for heating one bedroom but it will not heat 1000 square feet.I use it to heat my bedroom in an old house . This is the first time I actually feel to warm and need to lower the temperature with the supplied remote control. The heat provided is comfortable and not harsh. I recommend this heater .

Does Not Provide Enough Warmth
This heater is very low to the ground, it does not warm the space even after putting it on top of a crate within 3 feet of my workspace. It runs and runs and does not cycle off, so clearly it does not work well. I can’t recommend this product.

I will not recommend this product to anyone
It stopped working within 2 months. It turns on but no heat. I called customer service at least 3 times each time they said that someone will call with 24 - 48 hours but no one did. I'm throwing it out and will never buy duraflame product again. I will not recommend this product to anyone. The heater broke down and they have very poor customer service. Don't buy it.

Great Heater!
This is a small personal heater, but I love how the built-in fan propels the heat midway across the room. I believe this is the case because it has an elongated length, which allows more time for the heat and air to combine and build force. It's much better than the other heater I have.

I like the timer that you can use to shut it ...
It works very well. I like the timer that you can use to shut it off but I wish it had a way to turn on automatically. I thought the remote was overkill but it isn't. The unit seems to be very reliable and reasonably quiet. I'd recommend it to friends.

Very pleased with this heater
Have not run the heater continuously all day, but with the cold weather we've been having, I estimate approx. 12/14 hrs per day, and it has cost me about $1 per day for the extra heat. I consider this a very big savings on the x-ray fuel oil I would have had to buy. Very pleased with this heater, as it has been working perfectly.
