I was hoping this coffee would be the replacement for the organic coffee I had enjoyed for 12 years that was no longer available. I'm so disappointed that it was not. I'm giving the coffee order two stars. One star for the quick delivery and another star for the packaging. The coffee package was attractive and had much information on it concerning the coffee. My disappointment is in the roast. As soon as my husband unpacked the coffee, he said, "This coffee smells like the burnt coffee." It did. We ground enough for a pot of coffee, and it tasted horribly burnt. We made another pot, using less coffee, and it still smelled and tasted burnt. I guess there's a niche for this kind of coffee, since two well known brands use this type of roasting, but we don't drink it. We are now trying to give away the rest of the two-pound bag. We are currently drinking a non-organic coffee that has been roasted for a smooth taste.

I bought based on the good reviews and I'm pretty shocked that it's so bad.After the first pot I thought I'd shake up the bag and try again but it's still aweful.I'm really surprised too but it tastes like DIRT.....kinda like old maxwell house coffee.that sits way way in the back of the pantry for emergencies.

Really good coffee that is kind, from an acid standpoint. My wife has lifelong stomach issues and coffee tends to really give her serious indigestion if she has more than a cup. Yeah, not good to be a coffee addict and have serious stomach problems! Tried Puroast and almost too flat of a taste. This has been great for her. Good flavor and the ability to drink multiple cups without the issues that other brands have. Only issue I could mention is the bag we ordered and got was 'best buy March 2017' at the end of March 2017. But, we have half a bag left and it's still fine. I'm sure a fresher bag would taste even better.

The only thing I can think is that their roaster quit and they hired a 7 year old pyromaniac! This stuff is burnt and nasty! I should have paid more attention to the recent reviews instead of the preponderance of great reviews.The seller sent me a fresh batch and took back the old batch for "analysis". I ground some in hopes that it was just a bad batch. No such luck. Yeah, I don't know who's buying this stuff and saying YAY RAH, but blech! First batch tasted like someone took Sanka and mixed it 50/50 with potting soil. That couldn't have been the case because I ground the beans myself. Second batch less dirty and more like kissing a girl who smokes if you know what I mean. Stale ashtray... Definitely not the coffee for me. Gonna take it to some friends who are notorious for their palates and see if they agree... If you like it, hey, good for you!

Coffee nirvana! I bought this for my son who has trouble with very acidic coffee, and we both have been looking for an organic coffee that would really taste good and meet the low acid criteria. The first pot we brewed we brewed weak. Yet, it was surprisingly delicious. It had a mild vanilla after taste and while weak, (our fault not the coffee's), it was quite nice and palatable, both black and with added cream and sugar. The next pot was brewed by my husband who prefers his coffee so strong it doesn't just stand a spoon up, but actually might melt a stainless steel spoon. So, it was brewed VERY strong. Again, delicious! More robust flavor, of course, but did not taste at all overly strong so it suited both his taste and mine. You cannot make a bad pot of coffee with this coffee! We've tried it french press, drip, hot and cold. It's like drinking desert. There is a mild sweetness to it and a definite vanilla or caramel after taste that lingers pleasantly in the mouth. Normally I drink one cup of coffee a day, this is more likely going to be one pot a day. To put the cherry on top, the price was right too! Amazon had it to us quickly and well packed. Today I ordered my second bag so I can send one to the Ukraine with my son. Are they in for a taste treat!! As for me, my coffee search is over.

Soooooo disappointed in this coffee. In whose mind this is good I can't possibly guess but I was lured in by the ratings, the fair trade, the organic, etc....fool I was. The good news is, it forced me to do some research online as to how coffees are rated, grown, roasted and so forth. I'm MUCH smarter consumer now and will never make this mistake again!

Terrible cup of coffee, tasted like burnt ash. So many good reviews, doesn't make sense.

I was hesitant at first to try this coffee because of the bad reviews.I finally decided to order based on the very convincing good reviews and, of course, the price. Once I received this coffee, I understood the bad reviews better. The coffee is definitely a dark roast, not even remotely on the medium side of "medium/dark". I cannot imagine what the dark roast is. It has an oily sheen on the beans a bit more than the brand we were previously using. I disliked the smell upon first opening the bag. To me, the beans and the brewed coffee smells a lot like tobacco, which I find weird. After trying it, however, we prefer this coffee to the Kona blend we had been using the last 3 years (and have loved above & beyond all other brands previously tried). It's a bit less bitter but I don't think it tastes sweet. I have noticed this coffee lacked the amount of caffeine we are accustomed to and am a bit disappointed about that. Overall, however, I am satisfied with this purchase. I will be buying again, only, I will buy the "light" roast to see if it is more what we are used to.
