This is spooler is very well made and the materials are good quality. It works really well as intended, but as the description says "spool capacity 3 1/2" wide". The 1000 yard spools are 4" wide. Now, I like the product so well that I set it up like the pictures. You don't really need a spring on the right with a 4" spool. On the left side, you have to keep the keeper right out to the end as the spring would be too tight if not. I am considering cutting that spring in half, but it works just fine. This product is far superior to those suction cup models for sale.

I ordered mine on 4/10 and it arrived ONE DAY LATER !!. I added new line to 8 casting and spinning reels. Forger about the spoolers using a suction cup, they come loose. This one uses a clamp and I attached mine to a folding table leaf.The spooler itself screws into the clamp and has a nut to tighten with a 9/16 wrench. Everything worked fine. I did learn that when using either mono or fluoro that tightening the line spool a bit tighter helped to avoid line overruns. Braided line is easy as pie. Couple of hints for those who might be unaware: have the line come over the top of the spool when adding to a casting reel while having the line come off the bottom of the spool with spinning reels. This minimizes line twist while respooling. New line should always be run into the water ( no lures attached ) by boaters.Shore fishermen can add a heavy nut to the line and run it on dry land prior to reeling. When using spinning reels I learned many years ago from a pro angler to never close the bail with the reel handle as this adds a bit of twist to the line. Close the bail by hand.In closing this is a neat tool at very low cost so you won't need a buddy holding the spool and a pencil.

If you are spooling a reel you are going to want this one. Does what it's supposed to do. Takes up minimal space and sets up quick and breaks down just as quick. I needed it in a pinch and was losing light at sunset. Spooled a reel in under five minutes from unwrapping both this spooler and new line on a new reel.

I was very impressed with the quality and price of this spooler. I bought both the long and the short versions. These are all metal systems, no plastic. Use it for what it is meant for. Don't buy the long version and expect to put on a spool oversized for the bar. The descriptions and measurements give exact information. For the price I got what I needed to do the job. Definitely buy it, it beats using a pencil.

I ordered one of the many clamp models on Amazon, and it would not suction to the counter or even a glass table. So I returned it. I ordered this one, tho more expensive, as it has a clamp system which cannot fail. It works great. I have reloaded 7 reels so far and have 4 more to do and it takes any size line spool, any tension and NEVER comes loose.Kudos. Do NOT bother with any one that says it binds by suction cause it won't.

The product is good and works well for small spools but 1/4# spools larger than 2.5" do not work. The bracket will not have enough space to hold them and accommodate all the hardware on the spool bracket. I like the means of attaching the bracket to a surface. The other units that apply the suction concept limit their use to surfaces that are non porous. This unit can be attached firmly and has a wide mouth for attaching to wide edges. The spool bracket can be turned to accommodate bait cast reels and spinning reels to avoid line twist.

A simple and affordable tool for re-spooling your fishing reels with appropriate line tension. The product is fairly lightweight, yet sturdy. All you need is a solid surface (table, bench, railing, truck bed, etc.) for clamping the unit in place. It comes in a cloth bag for easy transport. I highly recommend. It should last for many years.

Used it today to spool and bait cast reel. Was concerned I couldn't get enough tension on the 300yd spool of line but turned out to be fine when actually spooling the reel. Nice, tight even wraps. Bought this because it has a clamp rather than a suction cup. Seems nicely made and comes in a very nice storage bag.

Had to knock one star off because compression springs are far to light, end up with line that isnt snug on the spool.
