Does an OUTSTANDING & FABULOUS job
I have published 11 photos of this in action......see them under the photo Amazon has of the press. NOTE.....THEY ARE IN "REVERSE" ORDER....SO to see it go step by step, start with the last photo and work your way to the first.Does a OUTSTANDING & FABULOUS job. This is the press I've been looking for. It DOES NOT MASH or SQUISH or destroy the garlic. It PRESSES IT THROUGH THE HOLES and it comes out as if it was riced. NOTHING comes up or out of the sides.Personally, I think you get more garlic if you peel it before you press it, as I did in the photos. At least, take the white paper skin off the clove and get it down to the more transparant skin. Better yet, get it down to the bare clove. Then just squeese and it rices through the holes beautifully. The garlic chamber is DEEP and quite LONG. I used a JUMBO CLOVE ( see photos) and had room to spare. Garlic cup Measures 1 1/4" deep and 1 1/2" wide.I think the key to this press are the fingers that grip the clove, hold it in place then push it through the holes. I'm amazed at the amount of garlic it expresses.FYI..... I'm a fan of Cake Boss and have been watching Buddy on his new daytime Kitchen Boss program. When I saw his garlic press and how it "riced" the garlic so easily and nicely I had to have it. Searched all over for any hint as to what he was using. Nothing. One day I Stopped the DVR while he was using his to study what it looked like. I immediately recognized the handles and shape of the press and those teeth as being a Calphalon. It's the BEST Garlic Press I've found and at $14.95 it's a real deal. If you prefer to use fresh garlic or are into Italian cooking......this baby is for you. Even if it breaks from heavy use ( looks like it's solidly built though) I can buy 2 of these for the price of 1 of the other's priced in the $30+ range.HINT FOR CLEANING........ take a tooth pick, slide it under the teeth and lift up on the. All the left over pulp instantly lifts off in one piece. You can toss it, it to your pan or add it to a bottle of Olive Oil to infuse a garlic flavor to your cooking / salad oil. The other handy tool I use to clean out the holes is either a hard bristled toothbrush or fingernail/hand brush. Works like a charm every time.

it definitely doesn't waste much of your garlic.
This is a great press as it pushes out your garlic into nice strings through the openings. Very little is left in the chamber. My OXO press was great (before I broke it) but the garlic juice and some garlic would push out on the sides when crushing. This press has teeth that fit through the holes so it pushes most of the garlic out in longer strands as opposed to a mushy mess. The drawbacks to this press as stated many times is cleaning it. It's not difficult in any way but it's not super easy. I use a small brush to clean between the teeth whilst running it under water. I then clean out the chamber with a toothpick or if lazy a knife tip while rinsing. My sponge is shaped so I can get it into the areas to clean. No big deal for such a great finished garlic pressing. Durability will be tested but almost all presses will fail if you miss align, over stuff or put too much pressure. This press requires to not over stuff the chamber as you need to swing the press part into the chamber at the right angle or you may have issues. Overall it presses garlic cleanly, thoroughly but takes a bit more to clean up.

works well, but handle broke after about a year
This press worked well for about a year. Then the handle broke. Super-glued it back to keep it functional, until it broke again. Additionally, it's very difficult to clean. I would not recommend buying this

I won't use any other kind
Out of all the Garlic presses I've used over the years, this design and brand has lasted the longest. I'm a daily garlic user, so this gets a lot of use (and some abuse because I grab and move fast with cooking). The lady who gave it to me said, once you use this particular type of garlic press, you'll see that it's reliable, easy to clean and an essential part of your kitchen. that was 5 years ago, and I broke it after 4 years of use and abuse. It's not a design flaw - it was a user flaw. I treated it like it was invincible because it was better than the other designs I had used previously. I got this one on Amazon in a panic when the old one broke 2 years ago. I'm a bit more careful so I can get more years out of it.There are no extra pieces to fit inside to make it press your garlic. It will crush with or without the skins. I only cut the garlic if it's too big to fit in the basket, press (some garlic will be harder to squeeze than others depending on it's size and skin) then scrape the outer bottom with a knife right into my cookware.

Best garlic gadget
This is our second Caphalon garlic press. I accidentally broke the first one (that we'd had for at least 7 years) when I decided to try pressing garlic cloves w/out peeling them first. Bad mistake! This works great every time- can fill it with one clove or several (depending on size). We've had this one for a while now, and it's just as good as the first one. We press garlic regularly- sometimes one to two meals a day depending on what's cooking. The biggest complaint is that it's no easier to clean than any other garlic press out there. IT's worth it to have freshly pressed garlic, though.

Works for me! Great price.
This is great. Donโt know why anyone has to spend more on a garlic press. The handle grips are sturdy and comfortable. Iโve used it every day for weeks. (I cook a lot!) I donโt find it hard to clean at all: I have a tooth brush next to my sink to clean small equipment such as this and my microplane zester. Scrub the โteethโ and scrub the outside of the holes; it gets everything out. No regrets in this house.

Crushes garlic with little effort.
I love this garlic press. My sister-in-law told me about it and I love it. It does a great job. At first, I found it hard to clean but all I do now is just use the sprayer on the hose on my sink or just rinse with heavy water flow and all the garlic comes off. I have recommended this to everyone who uses fresh garlic. Just bought another one for my brother. He loves it.

Actually works
I have owned several different garlic presses (including some rather expensive brands). This is the best one by far. Don't have to press super hard, the garlic comes out really nicely, easy to clean, and lasts a long time. I had this exact one for 5+ years and use it on a near daily basis.

Difficult to clean after use
This was an expensive item and it was no different to any other garlic press. In fact it was harder to clean than any I have had before. Not worth the money and I would advise against buying it.

... been looking for a solid and reliable garlic press like this for a few years
I've been looking for a solid and reliable garlic press like this for a few years. Deep steel chamber, protruding nibs, flat extrusion face. Only thing I don't like is the plastic and silicone handle, a little bendy, and I don't trust such weak materials in long-term kitchen ware. Wish it was all stainless steel, but works like a charm, so far so good!
