The Taint and Other Novellas: A Cthulhu Mythos Collection (1) (Mythos Tales)

My only problem with this particular book is a few of the stories have been printed in other anthologies. Not just quick short stories, but novellas. Going to have to check every title In His short Story collection to make sure I'm not doubling up and shortening my reading, again, because I've read them another book. Other than that great author.

Any Cthulhu Mythos fan knows Lumley and his excellent cosmic horror tales. Any fan of Lumley period should check this collection out.

I was very impressed with these stories. I have read the Lovecraft stories to the point of memorization and naively thought I wouldn't find anything else like them. I have read other horror novels but couldn't really find any that reached the level Lovecraft did. Lumley remains true to the Mythos while adding to it. Lovecraft fans have been served well by Brian Lumley and I appreciate having discovered him. Now I'm a Lovecraft/Lumley fan, like peanut butter and jelly.

wish it was better, lumley is my favorite author and i'll read anything by him, but these short story collections are falling flat on me as of late. this is for the lumley devotees

I chose five stars because I love Lumley's stories. I have greater than twenty of his books and stories. If you like horror, then I recommend this book of stories. And if you enjoyed this book, then I would recommend the Necroscope series of books. Enjoy.

I enjoyed the book and it lived up to my expectations.

If you like Lumley's work, or just the mythos in general, you just need to buy this. Great value, great stories.

I purchased two Lumley mythos books. Great stories with all the Cthuhluey goodness you could want. Even has a couple Titus Crow shorts.

Excellent little book, with fantastic collection of stories, for any lovecraft fan this book is a must, buy it now, you wont regret it.

This collection was very enjoyable - certainly my favourite so far in Mr Lumley's work.

Titus Crows schwarzmagischer Gegenspieler aus dieser Novelle erinnert an die Hauptgestalt von "Demogorgon", einem früheren Roman Lumleys."The Fairground Horror" ist eine originelle Improvisation zum Cthulhu-Mythos Lovecrafts. In dieselbe Kategorie ist auch "Rising with Surtsey" einzuordnen. "The House of the Temple" schließt diesen Zyklus und erinnert mich an Lovecrafts späten Roman "The Lurker at the Threshold", den August Derleth vollendete. Vor allem diese drei Novellen stellen wahre Glanzleistungen Lumleys dar, der Lovecraft keineswegs nur imitiert, sondern vom Lovecraft-Mythos ausgehend sich ein eigenes fremdartiges Universum schafft, in dem der Mensch keineswegs die erste Geige spielt.Die vorliegende Sammlung kann ich deshalb sowohl Lumley-Fans, als auch allen weiteren an hochwertiger Horror-Fantasy Interessierten wärmstens empfehlen.
