Usborne Internet-linked Science Encyclopedia (Internet-linked Encyclopedias)

My son brought a copy of the book home from the library one day and, after thumbing through it for a minute or two, I decided to buy a copy to keep at our house. I spend a few hours a week with my kids (ages 7 and 8) reading through this book, explaining and diagramming things to help them understand a bit better. It is a bit more advanced than what they are used to, but they have learned so much from our study sessions. It has been great for them and has provided them with just what the public schools are lacking.

We LOVE this book! As a basic jumping-off point for our 8yo's homeschool curriculum, there is enough here to stimulate discussion, provide topics to explore with other science resources, and generally keep us grounded in the wide variety and endless possibility of science.We treat each 2-page spread as a mini-unit, and add other library books to the topic at hand, along with relevant experiments from other sources or from the net. The Quicklinks are entertaining and fun, and we've discovered several sites with thoroughly entertaining games to play--bonus! My child may very well get into the sciences as an adult, and this book will provide the grounding she really needs.

Love the pics, love the details, love the whole thing. It is a very useful little encyclopedia that has the graphics that will lure anyone, young or old in. Perfect for my kids. And it has great Internet sights that work with it.

This book is a great book and my kids enjoyed it! We use it constantly. If you are looking for something that the kids will find easy to use and will want to read, this is it.

I had already checked this book out at the library, so I knew I would love it. And the price was great! I was super pleased to see the book was in perfect condition and it arrived promptly. Overall, complete satisfaction.

this is one of the best books I ever purchased for my grandson.....he loves it and I loved reading it before I gave it to him !!!a MUST buy for both boys and girls age 9 +

Wonderful resource for science - however, I was disappointed to see that this book was not "new" as listed. There were several pages that were water damaged where ink had run and left bright blue stains. Also, there was a child's smiley face sticker left on the front of the book. Overall, it was a decent price if it had been like new, but not for a book that was damaged.

Just what I was looking for. The enclyclopedia includes 2 pages per topic each filled with wonderful pictures. Each subject appears to cover topics at a basic level, which is perfect for our homeschool family at this time.

Very well illustrated and worded and with useful weblinks plus access to a weblink update site. I'd had the hardback version before but had given that to one of my grandsons to help him witn his science, he is 12. It is good for that age and a little beyond. Condition was excellent and it was delivered very quickly.

This Encyclopedia is well written and up to date. The illustrations are visually pleasing, and it should make science fun for those taking science at keystage two and higher, as well as a resource for others to dip into. The internet linking is a bit of a gimmick, and a quick Google finds most of the resource you need anyhow.

This is an excellent book for children starting to learn about science and how the world works. Plenty of pictures to capture attention, simple explanations, and then come the "why" questions. Luckily I can answer most of these...My daughter is 4 and she thinks it's a fabulous book. I think that says it all.

A great resource book that is well illustrated bought for my 15 year old grandson to help make science more interesting -and it seems to have worked. It is also a nice book for adults top dip into to remind you of often long forgotten bits of science!
