Cocamidopropyl Betaine - Cocamidopropyl Betaine is a surfactant which gives shampoos and liquid soaps their cleansing and lathering properties. It is derived from coconut oil and dimethylaminopropylamine. According to a study done by the Environmental Working group in 2006, rougly 10% of all products containing cocamidopropyl betaine contained harmful traces of carcinogenic nitrosamines. In addition, cocamidopropyl betaine is a known skin, eye, and lung irritant. (Source: Chemical of the Day Blog) SafeMama thinks 10% isn't that risky, so I can see why it's used by product companies in place of things like SLS. However, my problem with it lies with the fact that companies lean on the "from coconut" part but leave out the fact that it's been chemically processed. So it's not really natural at all.Why is it so hard to find a company that cares 100%. I am only doing organic for my kids and anything I do for them I do 100%. :( Huge disappointmentThe above definition of Cocamidopropyl Betaine was copied and pasted from safemama.com which I use as a resource and skimmed over this ingredient when making my decision to buy this product.I decided that a 10% risk wasn't that bad compared to a lot of the ingredients I would find in regular soaps and shampoos. I used it on the kids and am amazed because I really LOVE it. It smells like tea tree oil at first but rinses off and has a sweet non overpowering scent. I am glad that the 10% risk didn't stop me from using it and also I have read up more on the ingredient and it is only dangerous to people with allergy which anyone can be allergic to anything.

We love this brand for our two year old. Using this as a shampoo has been great because he has very fine sensitive hair and skin, and this shampoo is less stripping than the others we've tried (Honest Co., California Baby, Babyganics--we try to be chemical conscious with his products). The scent is light and lovely, and we like it almost as much as the Tangerine Vanilla. We do still have to condition his longish hair after this shampoo (same brand's conditioner).Only downside is that it's a little thin, so you have to use a good bit for such a tiny head. That seems to be true for almost all baby conditioners, though.

I bought this Nature's Baby Organics Shampoo and Body Wash in the two pack and bought the rinseout or leave in conditioner as well. I didn't have super high hopes, after trying many organics that were just good enough to do the job and nothing fantastic. Well, this one is fantastic!! It cleans really well and rinses easily. And it smells heavenly! But, the best part of these products is that they leave my daughters very curly, somewhat dry hair, shiny and moisturized and tangle free!! I couldn't ask for more!The only problem I have is that the bottles are very hard. It is a bit difficult to "squeeze" them, so that gets frustrating. I hope they will start using nicer bottles soon. Even if they don't I will just buy my own bottles and pour this in. Never switching again!

My kids are prone to excema and psoriosis, so I was looking for something natural and gentle, but not too expensive. This smells wonderful, rinses out quickly, and leaves all of their hair and skin very soft. This is great.Edited 11/29/12My daughter has always been prone to psoriosis on her scalp. Since switching to this shampoo/body wash she has only had small flare-ups maybe 3 or 4 times over the last year or so instead of several times a month. It doesn't take tons of water to wash out of all 3 of my young children's hair, but they feel soft and clean without being greasy. The smell is wonderful, but isn't too strong after they shower. I want to try the vanilla tangerine next.

The shampoo and conditioner are wonderful products - even for adults. We were previously able to obtain the product locally, but when we were unable to do that, of course I turned to Amazon and they had it.The product is as described and the delivery by the shipper was timely.

Product works well, gentle on skin. Down side no pump to dispense, which makes it inconvenient juggling multiple children during bath time. Last shipment bottles were poorly packaged and one bottle was cracked and leaked in the package :(.

This is NOT a "tear free" product. Because of this, I am unable to use it for it's initial purpose. It's on standby in my shower now until it's used up. Great for an older child but not a toddler.
