awful
it looks like a term paper for school that was made into a book. It's mostly made up of examples of macros with little explanation about how they work. If you're versed in VBA you might find it interesting to read through these examples. But if you want to learn VBA or pick up some advanced tips this isn't the one for that. Really disappointed. Not even published by a real publisher either. Who are the reviewers who gave this book good reviews. Friends of the author?

this was basically the lens through which I learned about coding, from a zero start (back when I was a book editor and knew very very little about coding aside from one intro college course). It got me started with regular expressions and macros--eventually I probably authored about 100 macros of my own and automated lots of tedious book editing tasks.

Top-Drawer Work!
As a long-time subscriber to Jack Lyon's "Editorium" service, I already know about the high quality of his work as a developer of methodology for working with Microsoft Word as an initial editorial platform, but to have all this helpful, time-saving and imaginative information in a single volume is not only quite overwhelming but is also enormously comforting. In fact, within hours of receiving the book I was adapting some of the techniques to a current editing project of my own, and I was feeling very well served, indeed. I recommend this volume to everyone who writes and/or edits copy for any final platform -- mine is book text that ends up in various typesetting programs -- and I applaud the leverage (for me, it's many hours of time per book) that Jack's solutions produce.

Indispensable!
The book is precisely what it describes itself to be, a quick and easy-to-use reference for anyone working on the nuts and bolts of publishing and using MS Word in the process. What are the nuts and bolts? Editing, indexing, proofreading, and typesetting. Even writing. If there's a way to work with the program more easily or to do anything in it more efficiently, this book tells you how. I've known Jack Lyon and his Editorium for years (albeit only in cyberspace) and bought this the minute I saw it was available. From settings to templates to macros to revision tracking, it's all here and then some. In plainspeak, no less, with straightforward and comprehensive examples. A godsend!
