Great Book!
A very good read detailing the early 20th century industrial revolution via mass production as envisioned by Henry Ford and implemented by Sorenson & others. Told from the perspective of Sorenson in 1956, word for word the same as written 1956, but printed on high quality paper in 2006. If you enjoy technical docu-dramas you will likely find this 345 page book hard to put down.

The Best Biography of a Ford Lieutenant
This is the best of all the biographies of Henry Ford's lieutenants. Sorensen was present for all of the big events and he had the deepest understanding of any of them. Sorensen never had a falling out with Henry Ford. He also created the plans for how the big assembly-line factories were built. Sorensen was a superstar who was responsible for everything that made Ford successful. As expected, Sorenson clarified that James Couzens was not the originator of the $5 day.Just a great book. Well written and extremely interesting!

A Different View Point
Charlie Sorensen managed to stay with Ford Motor Company at a high level longer than anyone else and he wore more hats within the origination than anyone.A unique perspective.

A rare glimpse inside the start of one the all time industrial greats
If you like business histories your normal challenge is to find books written by or about the founder or management during the years of your interest (in my case the first 40 years or so).Charlie Sorenson kept diaries and was a key man during the first forty years of Ford. This book gives you a real life picture of a company that accomplished incredible feats in spite of its critical flaws. The management style of Ford during the first 40 years is completely different than say GM (read the Alfred Sloan book for comparison). It is fun to see that there is more than one way that people go about accomplishing great things. You can read these stories and think about what helped them succeed and what you might do differently.

Great Book
A behind the scenes story of the early days of the Ford Motor Company by someone who was involved in every major development from the beginning. For those interested in antique Ford cars like me and want to now what it was really like at Ford in those da, I highly recommend it.

One of my favorite books
Glad to have this new edition. The version I had was getting pretty tattered. Love Sorensen's down-to-earth writing about his eyewitness view to history.
