A hidden gem, I can't believe it took me so long to find this game.
I spend a good but of my free time playing and looking through the games offered (on sale usually, but also through the full price games for games to watch) and I had sworn I'd seen everything that fits in the categories I like to play. Imagine my surprise when I seen this first on game pass for my xbox, and begun playing it on there. The ps4 has more of my regularly played games on it though, so more often then not that is the console I use. Of all the xbox games I've played, this is only the second game I purchased that I did so just to have on the other console, also so I own it for when it's removed from game pass. I usually play RPGs, first person shooters, fantasy, open world, narrative driven games, etc. This game has a lot of hours of play to be had, especially if you are a meanderer like me, a great story that doesn't overwhelm with cutscenes repeatedly, and enough freedom to feel like a semi open map. Plenty of exploration to do, and you can entertain yourself finding new areas, like buildings you can enter, that aren't even mission based, endlessly without even doing the main quests and side quests. Told from the perspective of three different people, you play each perspective completely before moving to the next with the story line, and the DLC adds new perspectives and new locations, a good 20 hours of gameplay a piece, if you take it slow and explore like me. More that worth the purchase, I just wish I had found this dystopian nightmare sooner. The DLC are all included, there's a code inside, don't throw it away! It's how you redeem your DLCs.A little about the story with no spoilers; a retro future, feels like the 50s buts with futuristic technology that blends the time periods. Everyone takes a pill daily to stay "happy" but that leads to them not seeing the world falling apart around them. When it wears off, the horrors become clear. You HAVE to take the medicine though, if you don't and you are caught, it means death or something like it. Something is going wrong though, and even people who take their Joy like they are supposed to are starting to see the world as it really is, and remembering the past as it actually happened, not the past as the Joy makes them see it. Find out about your real past, and the war and extermination of all the children under a certain age, while trying to not be caught as a "Joyless Downer" and unravel the mystery of what is happening to you and the people around you.

Fantastic for an Indie Game!
We Happy Few was honestly, a really interesting experience for players like myself. While it might not have lived up to expectations a lot of people had, since I feel like people were expecting the next Bio-shock. I think those expectations were just far too high for a game that just did not have the budget, and because of that, I think a lot of people were left feeling very unsatisfied with it. However, for players like myself who went into the game with no expectations, whatsoever, I was really surprised by how much it intrigued me.The storylines keeping my interest really going, I loved how you got different perspectives of the other characters which allowed questions to be answered but only if you played everyone's path. It's a dark game, but for me, I felt like it was more of a psychological thriller than a horror game. Being able to really hate characters, but then like them as your play them was telling me how well the game did with showing their perspectives and keeping you invested in those stories.Honestly, while the game itself needed more time in devolvement to tie up some of the loose ends, It's understandable why it wasn't possible. After all, there was no large studio backing up this project but you could tell that a lot of love went into the game. I do hope we get a sequel game, one day because there are so many questions I still have, and would love for them to get answered one day.

Weird, Wacky, full of grubs
I enjoyed this on GamePass. Absolutely sucked at it and only just got a feel for the controls when the game was pulled. It is a game that's fun. Yay things that are fun. Yay games.

Cool game. Restored my faith in preorders.
I like it. I’m only a couple hours in but I find the graphics to be on-par. The gameplay is engaging and I have not encountered any of the bugs I’ve seen in other professional reviews. Is it BioShock? Nope. But it is a game that uses a degree of subtlety to imply that something truly horrible has occurred in this world. The gameplay is good enough to hold my attention and so far I don’t feel like I’m grinding through missions on an infinite fetch and retrieve cycle. There’s enough going on and the open world aspect makes the game interesting. I hope as I progress the story progresses as well. I bought the deluxe version for Xbox one after taking a hit on Agony, doing another preorder was a chance I wasn’t sure I wanted to take. But I did and I would definitely order it again. If you enjoyed Bioshocks storytelling and visuals you’ll probably enjoy this too.

Good game, very buggy
This game was pretty cool and the concept was very interesting. The gameplay was fun and the story was rich until I encountered a problem nearing the middle of the storyline. My game crashed. I rebooted the game several times and continued playing but time and time again the game would crash. If the game wasn’t as buggy, I would give it 5 stars but there definitely needs to be work done on the developers end.
