Microsoft Access 2010: Introductory (Available Titles Skills Assessment Manager (SAM) - Office 2010) 1st Edition

I am teaching myself Access and searched for a good tech book, going so far to even to examine each book tbl of contents, first pages & index. I learn best by authors who a less wordy and more screen capture images. I am a CompSci dinosaur. I trained on mainframes, related languages, and OP systems. The text books our profs used were by Cashman & Shelly. Imagine my delight when i found Cashman and Shelly wrote a Access 2010 text. They did a wonderful job teaching me RPGIII, Cobol, OS JCL and DOS JCL in the past. And They carried on that tradition with this book too. When I have mastered 2010, i will purchase their advanced 2010 book. This book is aimed at people who want to "see" how to achieve the function that needs to done, rather than conceptualizing what need to be done by wordy paragraphs. They take you from ground zero and progresses to give the reader a good foundation to advance on. Thank you C&S, you haven't lost your touch.

Easy to use

Great book! Had a lot of samples on how to do business sheets with Access. Was very easy to read and follow! Worked great with my business law class and I was able to use it in my actual job as well. Was shipped very quickly and was in great shape! Was also a lot cheaper than most places I found the book at. Very pleased with this purchase.

this book is a few pages longer than expected, but it's reasonably detailed, and easy to follow. Access as a whole, is very simliar to Excel, so anyone new to Access will grasp this very fast. Some details appear to be omitted (such as how to show authorship of a document), but overall it's a very straightforward book. I'm still re-viewing it from time to time for it's details.

This book has screenshots that clarify any questions the user might have. Every step is explained and supplemented with pictures to make an easy-to-follow process. The screenshots really makes this book great for self-learning.

Shelly Cashman books are well written and VERY user friendly!!! I wouldn't recommend anything but Shelly Cashman books! Step by step instructions are easily followed. Also great illustrations to help guide you.
