Bought for myself and gave as a gift
My daughter ended up with this book that I planned to read for myself. Instead, I retired! Having worked in management and as an HR professional for years, I know that there is always one in every office---or more! She has enjoyed the book and I've enjoyed not dealing with the office tyrant that I worked for for all too many years.

Full of tips on how to deal with sometimes uncomfortable workplace situations with your boss!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this workplace book by Lynn Taylor. I was able to take her advice from the perspective of both the employee and manager, which I found invaluable. I manage a small team while also being managed by a corporate office, so for me, I want to be not only the best boss but also the best employee. Plus, you can't beat a little humor in a normally boring business book! The book is nicely laid out into the type of boss such as "Bratty & Lost Little Lamb" and then further into chapters on how to deal with common example situations. I bookmarked a number of sections I found useful and wanted to be able to refer back to easily in the future. I have no doubt all of us have had an experience with one of the types of bosses she goes over.I attend a Manager's conference each year and have already suggested this be one of our focuses in a session during the week. We can all benefit with tips and tricks of handling ourselves in many of these situations!

Some Good Advice But Same Advice Chapter by Chapter
I bought this book because I really loved the concept of the office tyrant being seen anew as a tot, someone that had to be viewed and dealt with like a child. The few bits of suggested ways to deal with this "tot" that I read before buying it seemed really helpful. Once I got it home I discovered that there are only so many different ways the author suggests for approaching an "adult child," and quickly each chapter's suggestions for how to deal with this tyrant were just the same as the chapters before.By the end I felt as if the TOT concept was truly limited, and really instead of giving the TOT their deserved timeout, the book was filled with ways to comply to their childish demands without ruffling their feathers, which still leave them as the tyrant with all the power. Sometimes the pat, provided suggestion fits and is useful, other times it feels like bowing down to the tyrant and in some other situations, the suggestions simply aren't practical. In a grown up world, not every response appropriate for calming childish behavior is helpful or practical for solving professional problems. I would have gotten more out of flipping thru this at a library and not buying it.

A Great Resource
This book is incredibly insightful about whatโs behind difficult behavior in the office, whether itโs a boss or a coworker. It draws parallels between bad bosses and terrible two children, which is such a great lens. The parody helps you see the lighter side of their antics. More importantly, you get a ton of valuable information on how to cope and get ahead. A must-read.

Help in a time of need!
I bought this book in a effort to figure out what I was dealing with at work. My managers had began to act in strange behaviors lately. Behaviors they didn't exhibit when I first started working at the company. As one co-worker put it "the honeymoon is over and the real person has come out". I was confused as I thought it was something I was doing or wasn't doing. That's not to say I don't have personal room for improvement [we all do] but it wasn't just me. I finally came to the realization when reading this book that I'm dealing with TOT's. I had no idea this was even a thing or even existed. This book has given me some great strategies to combat and de-escalate the TOT's when they begin to throw their tantrums. It was eerie reading the descriptions as they described the TOT's to the T. No pun intended. If you're having a hard time at work, if a boss seems determined to make your life hell, check this book out. You may think its a personal attack on you but you might just be dealing with a terrible office tyrant.

Bad boss? A good read!!!!!!!
Having worked for over 30 years in all kinds of companies, from small start-up to major medical companies, I have noticed one common denominator.Challenging bosses!I wish I would have had this book when I was just starting out, and it would have probably saved my job a few times. It is hard to know what to do when you are working for a boss who acts like he is just getting rolling into his "terrible twos".First off, the book gives great examples of boss behavior with examples and descriptions.Next, there are great examples of how to not only deal with the behavior, but how to correct or turn it to my advantage. Finally, Lynn Taylor has a knack of making the "classroom" funny and informative. The examples are useful, easy to follow, and enjoyable reading.Who knows, you might want to get your boss a copy with the important lines highlighted.

Disappointed in this book
I wish I had gone to my local bookstore to flip through this book prior to purchasing. I am disappointed with the repetitive and, sometimes, impractical advice. Since I work for a small company owned by a TOT I will, most certainly, not outlast the TOT. I purchased this in October as a Christmas gift to myself. I unwrapped it yesterday morning and began reading it in the evening. I wish I had spent my $21.00 on something else. I can't return it because it's past the 30 day return window. I don't want to donate it to the library because I don't appreciate the book at all. I have decided to keep it on the bookshelf as a reminder to do more research on a book prior to purchasing it.

Okay, but not worth the $$
I was expecting more from this book from the reviews. Disappointed. What it basically said was to manage their emotions by surpressing yours. Don't become angry, but play to their egos and treat them as spoiled brats.

Terrible!
Don't waste your cash on this book. Way overpriced and badly written. Very US centric in style and reads as though written for children.
