Prepper's Instruction Manual: 50 Steps to Prepare for any Disaster
G**!
Just as Great as his first book!!
I started out with Bradley's Handbook to practical disaster preparedness for the family 2nd addition. Great book very in-depth for both new preppers and experienced alike. I still don't have it back yet as the list of friends who want to borrow it are Long!! As for this book, it is Great! It has new items, is user friendly and is also very in-depth without making you feel overloaded with information. You can do basic prepping to start or go all out and be totally prepared. It's more than just go bag, roadside, and first aid kits lists, it covers a lot of topics such as Faraday cages, establishing a network, disaster resources, radiation & even CERT training and a lot more. The lists that are included are very good and above your basic prepper lists. For me the two books go hand and hand together. I would also add the Urban survival guide by David Morris as it helps you with maps and ways to get out of the city if needed. I've read a lot of these kind of books, I find then interesting and some very informative. These are great reference books, not so much zombie attacks and doomsday prepping, which are fine to. These books will definitely get you thinking if watching the news has not. It's funny how people laugh sometimes about being so prepared, until they need something you have that is! Which has happened surprisingly often, whether due to not having water with them or tools or a decent first aid kit. I had a hard time putting this book down. It's such a great guide, I'm using it to over haul my kits. Just remember the tv interviews with people who lost everything after a disaster...first pack your irreplaceable items like photo albums, special momento's etc, as everything else you can buy again. When you make your packs, think that once your gone from your home nothing will be left when you return then you will have packed the truly most important gear in your life. p.s. don't forget your PETS!!!Happy reading....you'll really like this book.

The Strengths, Weaknesses and, Survivor Preferences
I found this book "Prepper's Instruction Manual 50 Steps to Prepare for any Disaster," to be less than what it should have been for this genre. While well designed on the inside, this book has major omissions of information that for its obvious design quality should not have occurred. Here are some examples:1. While the author offers some good details about the hazard of radiation, his table describing the types of radiation totally omits one of the most dangerous forms of ionizing radiation, specifically, Neutron particle radiation.2. While some of the protective methodologies in the book would help as a point of "generally speaking," along with the hazard of radiation exposure, the hazards of Biological Agent exposure and, Chemical Agent exposures should never be omitted from such a book. In an environment where terrorism is a real threat, just because international convention attempts to prevent use of weapons of mass destruction, it doesn't mean a terrorist will abide by those rules and not use them. Consequently, any "Instruction Manual" should include vital information pertaining to those threats. This book does not address them.3. While many of the tools and methods would work well in response to conventional disasters, there are only a few scenario based examples of how to use the suggested tools and methods. There is no discussions of the numerous individual disasters people do and/or could experience. If untrained people encounter disasters of which they know nothing about, they will likely use the wrong tools or, methods for the wrong disasters making much of the information in the book useless until an understanding of circumstances sets-in which, may be too late.I compared this book to "The Citizen's Guide to Disaster Preparedness and Aftermath Survival," another offering on Amazon.com. While that book is not as pretty on the inside, it does provide the critical details needed to prepare for, defend against and, offer a better chance of surviving the hazards omitted from the book of Dr. Bradley."The Citizen's Guide To Disaster Preparedness and Aftermath Survival" provides much broader explanation of disasters and their associated hazards. In the end the purchaser of this book must decide whether they want a pretty book offering limited but good information or, a book that is not so pretty but offers not only information about how to deal with disaster hazards but also, the disasters themselves and, what tools are likely to be most effective for each.

You Need This Book!
We purchase car insurance in case we get into an accident. We purchase medical insurance in case we get injured. We purchase extended warranty insurance in case our washing machine stops working. Why wouldn't you purchase insurance in case the worst happens? This is the insurance book everyone needs when the things that no one wants to happen, actually do happen. Whether it's during a hurricane, blackout, major floods, civil unrest, etc., will you have the means to provide for yourself and family? Probably not.But this book is not just for being prepared for when the worst happens, it is packed with countless plans, suggestions and recommendations to protect yourself and prepare for the security of your family. The author starts with his Cardinal Rule: "the key to surviving any disaster is to, whenever possible, to get out of its way". Be prepared and get ready to take action. You will learn how to administer first aid, calculate the amount of food needed for a proper 30 day supply, escape a house fire, store and filter water, care for your pets, the proper way to secure the windows & doors in your home, and much more. These are things that everyone needs to know, not just when a disaster happens but for every day. When superstorm Sandy happened I was out of power for a full 14 days straight. I wish I lived next door to the author. He was prepared!

Excellent read
Well worth the couple of pounds I spent on it. Covers all the basic, intermediate and most, if not all of the advanced principles of disaster preparedness. The book mentions meany things I hadn't thought of and reminded me of things I had forgotten. If I had to find a fault the book it (trying really hard to find fault) would be that the emergency medical charter, but don't let that stop you from reading it as it only needs a little up dating and is still good the other 49 chapters are excellent. Well done Mr Bradley.
