ASE Test Preparation - C1 Service Consultant

Helpful mostly because of the practice tests. There are six practice tests total and i finished all of them with an average score of 81%, i ended up passing the actual test with a 76%, I will be buying the other Delmar books just for the practice tests.

Although an ASE certification test is not a requirement, but having that under your belt would place you ahead of the others. This study guide is clear and concise, albeit the material is 10 years old given that it was published in 2012 and here we are in 2022. One thing I give DelMar is that they do have 6 practice test, answer key and reasons why the answer was given.

Unfortunately, I scheduled my ASE (C1) Test prior to actually receiving this book. Even more unfortunately, this book arrived a day late which only left me with one night to study, prior to taking my test, instead of a full 2 days. I still passed but I believe that is more due to the fact that I have been Service Dept. Manager for the last 6 years, rather than the book being that amazing of a study guide.I will say, had I not purchased, received and study this book, I would have NOT passed the ASE C1 Test. It quickly brushed up my old passenger vehicle knowledge and component memory. I've been managing a HD Diesel Tractor/Trailer shop so this automotive stuff has became a bit hazy.Sadly, I passed by literally a hair. Had I missed one more question, I would have not passed. Be mindful, the C1 test focuses heavily on Customer Service (Communications), followed by Product Knowledge and Shop Operations. The Customer Service question segment is worded funny (to me) and can be hard to interpret. Product Knowledge is straight forward, know the basics (get this book). Shop Operations is a short segment but you should be familiar with technician communication and management skills. This may be something you can only really "pick up on" by real world experience. Maybe the book has everything you need. Again, I only had 5 hours to study so I did not get to go from "front to back".

It does what it says on the covers. It's merely to assist, and guide me on my journey for ASE certification.

Honestly, I don't believe it's necessary to buy this unless you have very little customer service experience, have never taken phone calls or various other basic items. However, the content is pretty accurate, and explanations behind why the answer is what it is can be very informative to someone who has no experience in certain areas. I took a generalized automotive program with no prior knowledge about vehicles outside how to fill the tank and when to take it to someone else for maintenance and repair. After graduating from the program I could have easily took the ASE C1 exam and passed without purchasing this study guide. I'm still glad I purchased it, it definitely took the stress away from worrying if I'd pass or not.

To be honest, I didn't read any of the materials. I was in a rush and decided to take just the practice exams (there's about 4). This took me about 2 hours. The next day I went to the test station and passed. Remember you need 2 years experience for the ASE to certify you, but the test result will probably suffice until you do.

Good book for marking off the items that you need to be familiar with. Practice tests are good. I wish that it had more detail in the front of the book on how to do the job and not just a list of assessments.

The 6 practice tests were very helpful. All the practice tests had detailed explanations. A handful of the practice questions were even on the exam almost word for word. I self studied and passed the c1 on my first try, which I wouldn't have without the book. Highly recommended.

Just as advertised. Definitely an asset as a study guide for sure !
