Jeep CJ Rebuilder's Manual: 1972 to 1986

We are in the middle of several repair projects on CJ 5 and this book ordered for information. It has much information but we did not find it as helpful as another book that is oriented toward maintenance. It will be retained for future reference.Thank you for looking at the Review. 😃.

As the title says the book came in great fast time but is upside down and backwards kind of a bitch to read when you started the back and turned the turn it direction and then you have to look to see where you are on the other page. It's a pain in the ass.

Must have book for any CJ owner. This and the factory service manual should be required items.

Guess this Book on Jeep Rebuilds worked for some folks but not for me. It has lots to help Jeep folks but I didn't find anything useful for me. The book was too expensive for one. Not nearly enough illustrations. I am putting together an ole 1974 Jeep CJ5 that has been hacked to pieces and this book was no help. But I would recommend it for folks who know nothing about Jeeps.

This book is not the bible for restoring a CJ, especially not an AMC-era one. Let me clarify again: this is for *rebuilding* and modifying, not for frame-off restoration. I went looking for the firing order of the V8 motor and couldn't find anything. That's a pretty simple "first step" to rebuilding something, don't you think?Apparently it's okay to completely ignore the Motorcraft carbs and DuraSpark ignition systems that went in to most of the AMC CJs. Nine pages of points/breaker teardown info, and a whole chapter on rebuilding the Carter carb, when a lot of AMC Jeeps came with completely different setups.This book is basically a collection of tech articles that Moses wrote over the years for various magazines, and the pictures are of varying quality. The OEM wiring diagrams are helpful but there are other places to find those on the internet for free (and to print at higher resolution!)The saving grace of this book is that it provides a lot of useful info about torque values for various driveline parts, as well as an in-depth restoration of an AMC 20 axle, among other things. Still, most of it is all over the place. I'm happy this book wasn't $60, and for $35 I am sure it will save my butt some day during the restoration project I've just started

Just got it, learnt stuff from the initial flick through... so within minutes it was money well spent. It will prove invaluable to my just bought '79's continued rejuvenation.

bought as a gift for jeep crazy husband who is restoring an old relic... hes loving the book!

This manual is very good for body, suspension, and engine overhaul. I was hoping for more detail with electrical and emissions (vacuum) systems.

It was a present for a 1979 CJ owner and was well receivedOne issue that ALL manuals have is the photos are black and white. Colour would make it easier to identify areas in Jeep

There is way too many big pictures! Not a lot of info. Without pics, this book would be 40 pages!

Tenemos un jeep 1973 y muchas dudas, este libro contiene todo lo necesario y más, es muy amigable y visual, entenderlo es sencillo aunque no estes familiarizado con todos los términos es fácil deducirlo. Es buena opción si estás dispuesto a ensuciarte las manos.

This book is huge. Full of black and white photos. The author seems knowledgable. I'm rebuilding my cj7, I am not a mechanic and I was hoping this book would offer some step by step instruction on how to do the mods in the book. It kind of tells you to do this step wise but nowhere near any detail for those who are less mechanical. I do not recommend this book unless you are a mechanic and can have knowledge on how to perform the mods in the book. Disappointed.
