Optimus Titanium Long Spoon

This is the second most effective outdoor spoon you are not using. As a regular user of the  classic GI canteen cup , it becomes apparent that your average dinner spoon does not cut it – its short length barely reaches the edge while straight/flat design requires you to tilt the cup at an angle to get anything close to a decent mouthful. On the other hand, you are the best person to know what you need and after my personal experience, the Optimus Titanium long spoon is one of those items you never exist and perhaps wondered how you lived without it.

Before I owned this spoon...How to begin? I was a lowly cub reporter for the local bird cage liner. Nobody knew my name, which is, um, hang on a sec...Anyway, at night, like most cub reporters, I dabbled in crime fighting. I got beat up pretty good by the local riffraff, because I lacked a decent handle, had no sidekick, you know, the usual newbie problems.While scrutinizing the internets with my special high-tech computerized scanner, I happened upon this "Amazon" website. There, among a myriad of confusing cook wear and camping gear I espied this singular treasure, the Optimus Titanium long spoon. Like a bolt of super-hero lightning, I suddenly had not only my all-purpose tool of choice, but a perfect name for my crime fighting persona.I am Optimus Titanium. And this...is My Spoon! Fear me, criminals, for I am both upbeat, and strong! I can run like the dickens, and call 911...faster than most people! Now, with my Spoon of Many Uses, I fear nothing, except stuff that's obviously dangerous. Viva!!

Love the smooth spoon area. I also have the Sea to Summit spoon that is rough textured and unpleasant feeling in the mouth. This Optimus spoon is smooth on the mouth piece like my old REI long handled spoon that is no longer available (I gave to my husband because he hated the rough Sea to Summit spoon). I've use titanium long handle spoons while backpacking for several years now and they are the best I've found. Because the spoon is slightly flat at the tip, it gets every bit of food from the corners of the typical deep bags without getting your hands dirty. They're the perfect length for Jet Boil use. Jetboils are a bit deep so the long handle and flattened tip are great for stirring food at the bottom of the pan. Handle fits in Jet Boil cup slots between stirring food so I can keep it off unclean surfaces in the backcountry. Color is typical titanium grey not light green like the advertised photo. Very strong and light.

I got the wrong product, I have one of these spoons already and they are great. Lightweight and Strong, very durable and very nice for camping packets if you need to dig in deep into the bag for whatever you may be eating.

If you only own one spoon, this should be it.It is long handled, tough, light, and decently sized for everyday use.Since my old spoon was recently stolen, I decided to get this, and since its arrival it has performed admirably.The angle, size, and shape of the bowl is good. It will easily reach the bottom of a tin can or pouched meals.The long handle is a must and is a good size for even larger bowls or deep cans.My only complaint is the handle is a tiny bit sharp and can dig into your hand if gripped very tightly.This is the only spoon you will ever need.

You would think that with a spoon, it wouldn't matter what kind you got... But this spoon has been awesome for me. I got it to replace my Light Your Fire double sided spoon fork and knife. I actually really liked it, but being plastic I have broken two of them and was tired of replacing them. This spoon is much nicer because of the long handle and the super lightweight aspect of it. I thought I would miss having a fork but I have managed all of my backpacking trips without it and doubt I will ever go back. Good buy

I really like this spoon, I also have a titanium spoon without the polished spoon and it can be like fingers on a chalk board affect on my teeth. Because I just use one utensil when I'm thru hiking I've found a spork kind of leaving stuff behind as I only use food I can rehydrate or something like mac & cheese. And the price is the best I've found and I'm not sure what it would take to bend a titanium spoon, but if you do it when you're eating backpacking food, I'm not sure you should be.And being able to reach the bottom of my pot or a freeze dry meal is simply what these were designed for!

These are really superb spoons, and of all the long handled titanium offerings available, the Optimus branded version gives you the best design at the best price!I originally hunted for one as a replacement for the standard issue plastic spoons that come packed in US military issue MRE's. They're good (and sturdy enough to give an Army Ranger a confirmed kill using one, but I digress), yet still a little short to reach the bottom of a pouch without getting your fingers messy. They also crack after a few months and if you aren't involved in the forces they can be difficult to obtain. The Optimus Long Spoon is an ideal upgrade as it looks very good, you can hang it from your neck on a lanyard when in the field, and it will last a lifetime. The length is neither too long nor too short - it's just perfect for both stirring food in a pot whilst you cook it, and for eating it afterwards. Being made of super-tough titanium it has 1001 other possible outdoor and survival uses too.The shape and size of the bowl is another feature I greatly admire. Larger than a teaspoon but smaller than a desert spoon, this mid-size is, in practice, perfect for everything, be it stirring tea, spooning up rice crispies, or eating stew. It's wide and gently dished, with a straight leading edge that allows you to efficiently clean the bottom of your bowl. In that respect it's unlike any other spoon I've encountered, and it's way better! This is why my Optimus Long Spoon is what I now use every day because it simply outperforms my domestic cutlery. I'm not the only user to notice this.Eating with this spoon always gives me pleasure, and there aren't many everyday objects that can achieve that. Recommended very highly.

What can I say? it's a spoon with a decent sized handle. I did a bit of research into these types of spoons before buying this one - TBH, they are all much of the same. Yes, it's titanium which makes it a bit lighter than a steel spoon but in reality would you notice the difference? - you'd probably get more of a weight saving if you cut your hair before taking a hike (or whatever adventure you are going to use this spoon on). Would buy it again ?- probably, at the moment I have no reason to doubt its steadiness or usefulness.

I have so far collected 3 one for each of my KFS sets. these are much lighter than the stainless steel ones I used before. these spoons are a very usefull addition to a mess kit as it alows you to reach into packs to get at the contents without making a mess. Not just for eat food but getting in coffee bags etc and for cooking with hot liquids on the stove the extra reach keeping valuble hands away from the heat. well worth a puchase. uses on trail too many to be listed

This is brilliant, great to get into the depths of a boil in a bag food. I now use it for every day use. Well made.

I purchased this as a bit of a novelty but i seem to be using it all the time....even at home in the kitchen
