Great introduction to forensic imaging for the general radiologist or technician interested in the field
This book has everything a general radiologist or technician needs to have an idea about forensic imaging and the current uses of it. Paper quality is a bit less than your average radiology textbook (i.e. not glossy expensive paper) but pictures are well chosen and have good quality. Most of the book is centered on X rays, with a chapter about virtual imaging that includes information about postmortem CT and MRI (most of its content is akin to what you can find in The Virtopsy Approach, since author/editor worked on both books). There's a chapter about equipment and radiation protection as well as on radiographic positioning that seems redundant since it can be found in almost every radiology book, so they seem like fillers, in my opinion. For a subject so interesting you would expect the authors to write about it and not about what's considered basic in radiology. I wish the 3D scanning or even the chapter about imaging of mummies and antiques were longer. Overall, it's a good buy if you are a general radiologist or resident who intends to become familiar with basic concepts and current use of techniques, especially since we don't get a specific training on forensic imaging and, as you'll read, forensic radiology is not the same as clinical radiology.

Overall a great book.
The Bible of forensic radiology. Pity it does not include anything about aviation disaster forensics at all. Overall a great book.

This is the post pretentious and condescending textbook I've ever read. The author takes it upon himself to talk down to the reader the whole time and it's exceedingly frustrating. Not to mention the weird (and wildly unsuccessful) attempt in chapter four where he tries to convince the reader he's not being sexist.Unfortunately, I have a digital copy of this book, which is a shame because when I don't need this book for class anymore, I can't throw it in a fire.
