Song of Songs: Divine Romance (The Passion Translation) (Paperback) – A Perfect Religious Gift for Birthdays, Holidays, and More

For years I knew that Song of Songs was about Christ and His bride but I always had a difficult time understanding it. Some of the symbolism kind of went over my head. I had been taught that it was more of a book on marriage and being single I tended to skip over it. I would read a few verses here and there to remind me that God loves me. Several months ago I bought the gospel of Luke in the passion translation and it was incredible. I don't know if its just the season I am in but I felt the need to order Song of Songs. I felt like the Lord was trying to whisper something to me. When I got it last week I started reading it and I was blown away by the fact that it was all so clear to me. The love God has for his children His bride just swept me away. The footnotes have helped me greatly in understanding the symbolism of all the spices. "I want to smell like cinnamon, the odor of holiness" I have been reading the book out loud every night for the last week. I cry every time I read it, not just tears but a deep cry from my heart that overwhelms me. . It's not that I did not love God before but I have now been awakened to the depth of His love for me and for His bride. Just one glance from me or the sound of my voice in prayer and He is intoxicated with love for me. His whispers of love is the most beautiful sound. Song of Songs is the song above all songs. I highly recommend this to everyone.

I asked myself once," Is it possible to love God with passionate love like or better than an earthly lover?" I read The Song of Solomon and various other books on the subject with no satisfaction.Then I realized that I needed to go to the source.I asked the Lord the same question.He was glad that I asked Him that question. His answer was to arise and spend time with Him. I began getting up in the early hours sometimes sitting quietly,sometimes thanking Him, singing to Him, telling Him how much I love Him and how much He means to me. Recently, I came across the book, Song of Songs:Divine Romance ,The Passion Translation by Dr.Brian Simmons.. It was just the book that I'd been searching for.The words are so passionate and so alive! I read a portion of it everyday. I get revelation from it everytime I read it. The Lord personally speaks to me. I have such a desperate desire to know the Lord in a more intimate way. I can truly say that our Divine Romance has begun.

The song of Solomon is a book laden with erotic imagery, but being that it's a book of the Bible, Christians believe that it points to Christ. This is one man's attempt to interpret, not just the ancient languages through which this book comes to us, but also the symbolism that is used. So there's no talk of teeth, breasts and navels, but of an intimate relationship between a believer and the Lord. This does help one get past the odd wording and erotic ideas that a literal translation would engender, but one has to believe that God put this wording in the Bible for a reason. A dynamic-equivalent rendering like this might help elucidate one facet of the book's meaning, but I sincerely doubt all. I'm not sure if what is lost is worth what one might gain from such a translation, but if one has difficulty getting past the lustful language, this could be a tremendous help in seeing the spiritual side of this small book.

I've read the Song of Songs many times before and understood that the context was relational. What I didn't know was that the Lord was expressing His love about ME! It is no longer an arbitrary story about a man and a woman.I wept throughout the entire book. Here's what crushed my heart in a good way...Jesus refers to me at least 3 times as His equal. DEEP💓 He's going to help me process that notion.I encourage everyone to listen to this book while reading the actual words and INTERNALIZE IT.Baby, he's talking about you. #precious #lovesick

There are many levels to how to read the Bible, a stairway to heaven, so to speak. One book, Treasures of the Messiah, says that there are 5. I believe there may actually be 7. One of the higher levels is to see yourself as the object of God's love. This book is on that level. At the end of Jesus' ministry, He says to the disciples, "I no longer call you servants, but now I call you friends," indicating that the relationship between Him and the disciples had grown beyond servant-master to equals in friendship. Beyond that is the bride-bridegroom relationship, with Jesus being the Bridegroom and we the Bride. Read it, you'll see.

This is a lovely translation. I would love to listen to it read over and over. However, the kindle edition auto reader reads a chapter, then the end notes of that chapter. Then, the next chapter, etc.I was totally enchanted at the explanations of the word choice in Hebrew and the more subtle meanings of the cultural references. I would like to see the structure of the book updated to the chapters altogether first, then the end notes written in expository explanation as chapters, the the end notes at the very end of the book. And an audiobook option with book purchase. That would be perfect.

In various areas of struggle in my life I began to realize I wasn’t really receiving God’s love. He faithfully poured His love out, but there were places in my heart God’s love wasn’t soaking in. I asked God what was needed to open up to His love. He began to show me my legitimate identity in Christ. He directed me to Song of Songs: Divine Romance to spend time just marvelously wrapped up in His glorious love. He opened seals in my heart and is making more whole.

The Passion Translation of The Bible is not available yet as the whole Bible they are being released as single books of the Bible Matthew, John, Song of Songs, Proverbs, Psalms, or little sets of books Hebrews and Timothy; Galations Ephesians, Philippians and Colossians; Luke and Acts. They are absolutely amazing, this translation has so caught the heart of God and his love for us, it is loaded with revelation and the footnotes are also highly revelatory. I have bought all of them over the past three months, and have read them all and am reading them again, because they are loaded and so impactful that you cannot take it all in on one reading. We know the Bible is living and active and sharper than a double edged sword, we know all scripture is God breathed, this is the fresh breath of God for this season, buy them and let God reveal more of himself to you through his wonderful Word.

This beautiful translation has been an enormous help to me in entering into a much more precious and intimate relationship with our Lord Jesus. I heartily recommend it to everyone who wants to go deeper in his or her walk with Jesus. Likewise, The Passion Translation New Testament with Psalms, Proverbs and Song of Songs. All Dr Simmons’ books carry a beautiful anointing. I have many of his devotionals and study guides, both hard copies and on Kindle.

This is a beautiful translation of the Songs of Songs. It is increasing my knowledge of the bible and Hebrew language, and for me, most importantly, it has been like God speaking to my heart... I really can't wait to get the rest of the books Dr Simmons has translated already, and one day having my own The Passion Translation (TPT) copy of a bible... THAT will be awesome!

Highly recommend this as an accessible way into the bible for people who find it difficult to make sense of or understand the bible. The language is modern, and more in the style of a story, although for people of faith it will provide an entry into the emotion of loving Jesus.
