Who Am I To Disagree?
Folks have stated this is the Marlin reference; sure seems so to me. A very interesting & exhaustively researched book I would recommend to any Marlin owner/fan.

A great history, statistics, and facts for Marlin firearm lovers
I’m a Marlin firearms owner and wanted accurate information on different models, beginning and ending production dates and numbers made. I also was interested in the history of the company. The book is an absolute wealth of information through 1984 when it was published. I wish it covered Marlin until it’s demise when sold to Remington but I guess we can’t have everything. I’m waiting for Ruger to produce more Marlin models. I understand the first one they’ve made is very high quality. I would recommend this book to anybody wanting to learn more about Marlin, their Marlin rifles or just wanting facts and stats. It’s a fantastic book.

The only easily available source of much information, but...
The jacket cover is beautiful, front and back. Based on the jacket, you would expect to see a fair amount of color on the inside. There is NONE. Everything is in b&w. Even the contrast of many of the photos is poor. The author would have had access to all the Marlin catalogs. Most are in full color. Granted, putting a lot of color in the book would have made it more expensive, but I would rather have paid more to get color.Comparing it with the R. L. Wilson books covering Colt, Winchester, and Ruger, it falls WAY short in the aspect beautiful color illustrations. Published in 1989, it is a complete history of everything from the beginning to that point. In its defense, the book is VERY thorough up to that point, minus its complete lack of color. You won’t find the complete history to that point any better discussed. If you want to know about the history of Marlin after that point, go to the Gunbroker site and search for the catalogs from 1990 through 2014, all in full color. After that date (and this was 3 years after the Remington takeover), the catalogs are supposed to be available online. However, the only one that comes up is the 2020 catalog. As you know, Marlin has now been bought out by Ruger, since the bankruptcy of Remington, and the 2020 catalog is now a Ruger download. We shall have to see what Ruger starts producing, hopefully before year’s end.

For those who are detail oriented ....
This was a Christmas gift for my husband who is enthralled by each page! I wouldn't read it on a bet, but a successful Christmas gift is a major score! He has several vintage firearms (pretty worthless for hunting, thank goodness) and having an encyclopedia of each screw and bold is, apparently, Nirvana!

lever action
this is where you find out where your marlin is coming from. It will also help you reassemble yours when you have taken it to bits.
