Warm but attract debris and I don't yet know how long they will last
I bought these to mountain bike in. They attract debris (leaves mostly) like nothing I have ever worn. Other than this they are soft and very warm. They keep my feet warm into the mid 40's (here in SC/NC we don't get much colder)

Pleasant Surprise
These socks are more man-made material than the wool ones I usually get from Carhartt, but they’ve been unavailable at this time. However they really did the job in our coldest days and haven’t worn or thinned out. I’m satisfied with these and would buy them again.

The best socks on the planet
These socks are absolutely amazing, its very cold here in Idaho and my feet have not been cold not once even when they were wet. I wear them as slippers also they are incredibly comfortable, they don't slide down into your boots, the best socks ive ever had for extreme cold. They are thick but I can still wear them with my shoes. I have bought 6 pairs for myself, and 2 pairs for my son and father who have both bought more pairs. Your feet are in total comfort all day, in extreme cold, worth every cent.

so warm !
The warmest and most comfortable socks I have ever had on my feet

One of the sock came with a hole… that’s not what I expect from such a highly regarded brand.
One of the socks came with a whole in the toe. Not what I would expect from such a well known brand.

Odd sizing issue
These socks are very warm, very thick, very comfortable. I wear them in rubber barn boots and they make a huge difference not only in warmth but in relieving pressure and aching in my feet. However, an issue I have run into is that the sizes are inconsistent, and I suspect it is because the way the socks are sewn is inconsistent. Most of the time the pairs match, but sometimes they don't. It seems as though the knit of the fabric isn't always going the same way.One sock will stretch lengthwise very easily and pull almost up to my knee. However in doing so it thins out the sock.Another sock, sometimes even in the same pair, will stretch very easily in width, will be too loose in my boot, and barely come up past my ankle. For as much as they help my feet, I overlook this issue as long as I get two socks that match. But the former type leaves me with less cushioning and the latter type tends to scrunch down into my boot.

Very good product
It's become very difficult to find proper thermal socks in the retail outlets in my area. All the retailers seem to have switched to a cotton or wool mix which do not have the same thermal properties as 3 blend synthetic socks. Cotton doesn't retain heat and and both wool and cotton retain moisture and stretch and distort out of shape after a few wears and washings. These Carhartts have all the properties of what I use to be able to buy off the shelf. They seem to wear well and fit well. I purchased 10 pairs because I couldn't find anything in the retail outlets and it was much easier ordering on Amazon then driving from store to store looking for something so basic. Good value in money spent and time freed up for living.

Not great for winter weather.
They're just okay; fit fine, seem thick and durable enough, but even in slightly below zero weather they're just not that warm. I didn't expect them to perform as well as Carhartt's 'Arctic' model which are quite good, but these are subpar in my estimation. I'd wear them in Fall weather but that's about it.

Warm
Warm, extremely soft interior, and in good shape after 2 washings. Quality seems good. They are thicker than normal socks but not as thick as other thermal socks- but just as warm. Overall would buy again if I need more than the 2 pairs.

These are the boot socks you're looking for
With respect to the more sustainable materials, like wool, nothing beats a synthetic boot sock. There are cheaper "work socks" available but these are the socks that keep your feet warm even with a fair amount of cold water. These socks are also quite durable, but my partner and I are careful to wash them in cold water and dry them on the lowest heat setting.
