Highly recommend!
I love this book. I didn't realize how great it would be when I ordered it. I home school my girls and we like to do bible study as part of our curriculum. So, I got this just because it looked interesting and it had some detective elements that I thought would go nicely with our detective unit study. We wound up using this for our Bible and English because it covered gramar and literary topics as well. It has you start by highlighting the writer of the book and all the first person pronouns refering to him in one color and the person/people he is writing to and the pronouns refering to them in another. Then it also helps you to learn how to look for key words in the text and mark them with different symbols or colors. I have found that this makes it easier for myself and especially kids to connect dots between who is being spoken to and about. It also explains how to begin understanding the symbolic stuff in the bible by helping you understand similes and metaphors. I'm now using the concepts I learned from this book to teach my Sunday School class to break down the bible. It is amazing how after just 1 week they are looking more closely at the words they are reading.*Side note: if you are one of those people who are opposed to writing in your bible, this book may not be for you.

Commit
Five stars are for the potential of the amount of wisdom you can gain if you and your children commit to this study. It is a consumable book that details how to inductively study the Bible for yourself. My children and I are using this book right now in our home school. You are always being told you should study your Bible (and you should), but no one gives a concrete way to do it. This does. It is very involved. You will need to work this study with your children. You will need to be consistent and work through the whole book. You will need to keep track of the different marking techniques suggested. (We are keeping our's on a big index card that can be kept in our Bibles.) This book does not handfeed you the answers. You will have to give thought to what you are doing. I hope as we continue and finish this study the whole concept will "click" and my children will have gained a life skill. If you are not committed to the study or do not work on it consistently, don't waste your time. It will not stick.

Kids are studying the Bible!
We've had these books for a while but they sat on the shelf until the covid-19 quarantine started. My boys (4th & 6th grade) started a daily habit of doing this bible study first thing in the morning using these books. They did these studies almost daily until they completed them. They learned great study skills for both going deeper in God's word and English grammar in general. These books are well suited to older elementary or middle school aged kids. Younger kids will likely need more parental assistance to complete assignments. After finishing this book my kids picked another study in this series and are now working on Jonah. Thankful for this resource!!

Excellent Inductive Bible Study for Kids
I was looking for a Bible study to do with my children and this one was perfect! Kay Arthur teaching kids how to inductively study the Bible, which means you use scripture to interpret scripture. They learn how to observe the text, interpret it, and how to apply it to their lives. By far the best way to study the Word. There are 5 lessons in this workbook with 5 days for each lesson. Children memorize one scripture per lesson. The Teacher Guide has the answers to the questions, but you could certainly do the study without it. If your looking for a Biblically sound study this one is perfect!

Be Smart!
This book has great content. My group of thirteen 5th graders is enjoying the book a great deal. However, the teacher needs to be smart about how to take concepts that are WAY above the heads of this age group and make them understandable. I wasn't too impressed with the books explanations. Using only the book I still got blank stares back from my group. An example of this would be the importance of historical, geographical, and cultural context. The book gave abstract examples that were not helpful to the kids. It took some time and some more age relevant examples for the kids to get those concepts. With that said, I still think this book is worthy of consideration.

Helpful source for kids and family
My daughter is eight and she likes this book. It is easy for her to follow most of the time and when there are some difficult parts, I can help her with it. Paired with her Bible, it makes a great way for her to learn how to manuever through it.

Kay really brings it down to their level without making it childish like so many other kid studies
Having gone through several of Kay Arthur's books on my own, when my kids started asking how to study their Bibles-I knew exactly where to turn. Kay really brings it down to their level without making it childish like so many other kid studies. My kids are digging in their Bibles daily, and growing in their faith due in part to this book.

Excellent Bible teaching tool for homeschoolers
I purchased this text for my 10 year old grandson, as I am helping out with his homeschooling. These materials are excellent tools for teaching how to study the Bible. At first he wasn't too keen on it, but just last week he told me he really enjoys it now.
