Director Mel Brooks' spoof of vampire movies. Count Dracula (Leslie Nielsen) is fed up with the rising damp and uncontrollable bat population in his Transylvanian mansion, and so departs for Victorian England with the aid of his assistant Renfield. There his attempts to make the beautiful Mina his undead bride are thwarted by his own ineptitude and the intervention of renowned vampire hunter, Professor van Helsing (Mel Brooks).

Brill buy.
I had been waiting years to buy the above dvd but everytime i went on amazon it was either out of stock or i didn't have any spare cash. So this particular time i went on amazon and it was in stock and luckily I had enough money so i bought it. It is a brilliant classic film.

Funny, but not classic Brooks.
It is funny. A bit like Robin Hood Men in Tights, it's heart is in the right place, the main performances are great, Leslie Neilsen is very funny as ever. But it's nowhere near as good as Mel's earlier films like Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles etc. But it's funny and pretty harmless. So for simple basic entertainment it's fine. You're probably not going to rush to watch it again, but I've watched far worse.

Classic comedy horror
I have no interest in watching this if I'm perfectly honest but my husband watched it three times over 2 weeks and thinks it is brilliant. Money well spent!

2 Comedy Legends Unite
The vampire Count Dracula comes to England and faces his enemy Van Helsing. Mel Brooks final film as a director and it's far from his best work. In fact it's his weakest though there are still some laughs and it's worth watching just for Leslie Nielsen as Dracula though again this is far from his best film either he does make this entertaining enough. Not up there with the likes of Young Frankenstein but still a fairly amusing spoof that does follow the original Dracula novel and movie while Mel Brooks is decent as Van Helsing. Very hard to get in the UK but it is a region free DVD so it will play anywhere
