Q: I have a lot of silt and sand in my well water. How often will I need to replace the filters?

I have similar situation. Use a spin down filter (e.g., Russo with 250 mesh) in front of this filter to make this one last longer. I get 3-6 months but I change before pressure drop occurs.

Q: We need something to handle. Iron 4.0 and archinic at 2.0 we already have a good water softner

You need to get you water tested to determine the type of filter.

Q: Why would the filters be installed afer the well's pressure tank, if Iron and Manganese damages the pressure tank?

I didn’t use the filtration for well water however as near as I can tell the pressure tanks have a rubber bladder which I suspect is impervious to just about any chemicals. I would want the filtration on the last stage of the water before it is consumed. I might also assume that anything that is leached out by the pressure tank and inner bladder, would then be filtered. I’m certainly no water expert so I would take my assumptions advisedly.
