An abomination
At my Bible study, someone mentioned this book and we started talking about. I ended up purchasing it because I wanted to see what it was about. My conclusion is that any book that tries to explain away or justify suicide is committing a sin. Life is a gift from God. Suicide is wrong. Abortion is wrong. End of story.

It was not the book I was hoping to get, there is a copy on archive.com that is free and is more convenient for students.

The classic sociological study of suicide
Durkheim seems to have been the first person to study suicide as a sociological phenomenon, not as a matter of ethics, medicine, mental illness, or whatever. Much of what he wrote in the 1890s remains relevant today, and his book is still well worth reading. The style of writing is fairly easy to digest, though there is a lot of detail here, and a lot of statistical data to absorb.Note that the book is not a guide to working with suicidal people or to preventing suicide.

Boring but worth it
Roughly three quarters of this book are painstakingly boring statistical analysis, but god damn if it isn’t worth the understanding on society, desire, suffering, marriage and suicide that can be derived from Durkheim’s conclusions. By no means a fun or entertaining read, but this has made me contemplate the function of society in a way that I never have before.

Not an instruction manual
I bought it thinking it would be an instruction manual, but ended up being pleasantly surprised with a study of suicide as a sociogical phenomenon.

Very Good
Good translation. I liked the introduction. Very helpful in understanding theory and the study in general.

The overall delivery of information
The book itself is really interesting, includes a lot of reasoning and background information about different ideas. The delivery of the book however took me 1 1/2 months, the quality of the book is really smooth and organized.
