Product Description A comic look at the world of air-hostesses. Donna (Gwyneth Paltrow) lives in smalltown Nevada but has big dreams of seeing the world by becoming a first-class flight attendant. However, lacking in some of the finer skills to become one, she finds a mentor in Sally (Candice Bergen), a retired veteran turned best-selling author. Donna finds the going tough and when she falls for a law student (Mark Ruffalo) she has to make a hard decision; give up and follow him to Ohio or continue with her dream. From .co.uk An ingeniously campy and enormously entertaining piece of fluff, View from the Top stars the impossibly lithe Gwyneth Paltrow as Donna, a white-trash girl with dreams of escaping her dead-end life by becoming an international flight attendant. Her destiny is complicated by a sweet guy (Mark Ruffalo) who just wants to live with his family in Cleveland and by a sister stewardess (Christina Applegate) who stabs Donna in the back. View from the Top doesn't take itself seriously, yet takes itself just seriously enough--Donna and the rest of the characters treat their absurdly candy-coloured world as if it mattered. As Donna experiences the world and improves her fashion sense, the result is both hilarious and hilariously touching. It also features Mike Myers, Kelly Preston, and Candice Bergen as Donna's visionary mentor. --Bret Fetzer

Very good film
Very good themes not usually tackled in cinema. Determination, beauty, service to others. The film is not exempt of issues but these are redeemable. The reason why Ayoade hates the film so much is exactly why the film is so good. Ayoade's view is the typical resentful victim view of life. This film is so pure in its intentions; yes, you can make it if you try, and yes Donald Trump got a lot of things right. You will like this film if you have a healthy mindset. Victims be on your way.

Paris. First class. International - It’s your destiny
Ayoade too...Watching the first half felt as though I’d mainlined the whole canon of 21st century self-help books in one go. It felt exhilarating, like my mind was being dry cleaned. Maybe I too could make it? Just say focused on Gwyneth’s lovely smile and “go get it” (yet caring) personality. But as the film drew towards the half way mark things started to take a horrible turn. A sudden change took place as a deep feeling of dread gripped me. Like Wagner’s “Tristan chord”, it started to dawn on me that there was no satirical punchline to any of this, no relief to the tension of the unbearable wholesomeness. Somehow I’d slept walked into the asylum that is Gwyneth Airlines - and there was no escape. A modern masterpiece.

Fun popcorn movie
Bought this for my wife as a cheer-her-up during a stressful time, ex-cabin crew herself, did the job, funny, love story, women being bitchy, theiving from airlines, oh it's rife, but overall a brain in neutral chick flick that did wot I bought it for!

"Doors to manual"
I only discovered this super little movie a few days ago.It fits the bill wonderfully well when you want to chill-out - either with company or, solo - and be left happy. The tick boxes get ticks … no crosses. (Excellent casting).Have alerted friends who are in the airline business to be sure to watch, especially those who either were or, still are, cabin crew.So order-up, sit back and position your "do not disturb" sign.

Quite a good movie ...... really
I bought this to go with the Richard Ayoade book Ayoade on top, which is a satirical review of this movie. Not expecting much I really did quite enjoy the film. I've not yet read the book so it will be interesting to make comparisons.

An old favourite
Absolutely love this film and have watched it many times. A pretty formulaic plot made fun and enjoyable by excellent casting and performances.
