Outstanding outdoor wireless device
I installed the EnGenius ENH500 to work in conjunction with an EnGenius ENS1750 to supply network and internet access between my home and my storage building. The distance between the devices is approx. 120'. There is a clear line-of-sight between the devices and they are facing each other. The ENS1750 is mounted 7.5' off the ground, and the ENH500 is mounted 9.5' high. The ENS1750 is connected via cable to a port on a Netgear Nighthawk AC2600 wireless router through the included POE injector. The ENH500 is connected to my previous wireless router, a Netgear N900 also through the included POE injector. My old N900 provides wireless access inside my 36x45 storage building. The two devices communicate to each other over the 5ghz freq. spectrum. The ENS1750's 5ghz radio is used as a dedicated backhaul link to the ENH500. The 2.4ghz radio in the ENS1750 provides general purpose wireless connectivity in my backyard.I did lots of research before I selected these components, looking at how to do it, what the price was, ease of setup, reliability, etc. Almost all of the reviews I read on this brand said the same thing, that the products are fine but setup was not for non-tech savvy folks. To be honest, I was quite a bit concerned about that. I hesitated making the purchase for quite awhile, continuing my research. One day I saw that the ENH500 price had dropped by quite a bit and so I just bought them. When they arrived I found them to be well packaged and well built. I proceeded to configure them using all of the information that was available including videos on youtube, multiple websites, and of course from the EnGenius website's tech support area. My planned installation required me to also configure my N900 wireless router, and it took perhaps 1 or 2 hours to make all the settings, back them up, record passwords and SSID's etc. I had all of the devices setup and running properly in the basement of my house before I installed them.It took about a month before I had the opportunity to install them on my buildings. They are wall mounted, not mounted to poles. The included mounting hardware is adequate, though I bought longer length stainless steel panhead sheet metal screws (#6x1-1/2) for my particular installation. I used outdoor rated CAT5e cable where appropriate, and indoor cable where that was needed. I custom cut the cables to the required length and installed crimp-on RJ-45 connectors where required. There was a fair amount of work to install everything required, including routing and attaching cables, installing the POE injectors near an outlet, installing the old N900 router near the 10' ceiling in the storage building, and of course installing the EnGenius devices.I installed the ENS1750 first, and I had trouble. Turned out that one of the crimp on RJ-45 connectors was not up to the task. I reinstalled a new one and it was rock solid. Next, I tested the ENH500's ability to communicate with the ENS1750 before I went up on the ladder. It worked properly so I installed it on the storage building's wall. Then I installed the N900 router inside the building. Results? The system is awesome! The wireless signal in the farthest corner of my yard is outstanding. The internet connectivity in my storage building is good enough to stream online HD video without dropouts. My cell phone has the ability to do wireless VOIP when the OTA signal is weak and so now I can use the phone inside the all-metal storage building with all of the doors closed. Why 4 stars instead of 5? Because I agree with the opinion that these are not for non-tech folks. I suspect that maybe 65% of the people I know would not be able to set these up. EnGenius could overcome this quite simply by creating and publishing materials that explicitly and simply explain the process of making the pair of items work together, instead of individual guides. Bonus points to also add setting up the router in the remote location. In my opinion this brand is the top rated consumer grade product. The next step up would be hundreds and hundreds of dollars higher. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone needing outdoor wireless connectivity.

Good product, but may not suit everyone
Good product, setup is relatively easy if you've done any IT work before. My father wanted WiFi in his workshop, so I used 2 of these to form a bridge to an access point I installed. Signal strength is amazing, around -10dbm at about 50 feet. I haven't had a chance to test them in the rain yet. They are relatively quick; I get about ~52 mbps of actual bandwidth. They have a proprietary PoE injector and are only IP55 rated. Installation was easy; they came with a hose clamp in the box, and I mounted each one on a TV antenna pole I fastened to the house/workshop.Pros:Easy to installEasy to setupFastCons:Proprietary PoE. Why can't these just be 802.3af rated? I put a PoE switch in for the other access points in my fathers house, and it would've been dead simple to just use that. If the injector fails, that means I've got to hunt a specialized one down instead of just buying a common PoE switch.IP55 rating. Engenius could bulk the enclosure a bit, gasket the panel, and include a couple of 1/2" threaded conduit knockouts and make this thing IP66 or IP67 rated.I would easily pay more if I could get the stuff on the cons list corrected.

The warranty is only 90 days on the proprietary PoE injector
The product works as advertised and is easy enough to configure. However, I give it a two star rating because it uses a proprietary PoE injector and external power supply that are unreliable in my opinion, and only covered by a 90 day warranty. I bought two of these units, and experienced failure within six months of deployment. The Engenius website page here http://www.engeniustech.com/business-networking/outdoor-access-points-client-bridges/9340-enh500- clearly lists the package contents and claims a one year warranty. When I contacted Engenius for a replacement power supply, I was told that the power supply and PoE injector are bundled, proprietary, and NOT covered by the one year warranty as their website states. Only a 90 day warranty covers those components. The product will of course not function without the proprietary PoE injector and power supply, and those components are MUCH more likely to fail than the ENH500, so essentially what you are getting is a 90 day warranty, not a one year warranty. The support dude told me it would be just over $30 for a replacement PoE injector and power supply - roughly 37% of the cost of just buying a new unit. If you're an enterprise buyer, you should consider their true warranty (90 day) and replacement costs before buying any Engenius products. To summarize - the product performs as advertised, is unreliable in my opinion, and shame on Engenius for claiming the product has a one year warranty and then telling customers that the warranty doesn't cover critical proprietary components.

Bought to Replace Defective Unit
Purchased a pair of these one year and one month ago and recently purchased another to replace one of the originals that became unresponsive. Quick delivery and easy to set up but disappointing to experience the failure only one month out of warranty.

Great product.
This product did exactly what I needed it to do. I am an IT Manager so I found it quite easy to setup. There are many videos available to help users at any level to get it up and running quickly. Shipping was fast as well.

Engenius products are Horrible stay away
Engenius products are Horrible stay away. I bought 2 of these and after weeks of meddling could not get them to work. As the return date had passed I sent both units for a forensic examination by my company and both are defective!! Apparently the firmware even though it was installed and uninstalled several times in an attempt to make it work DOES NOT communicate correctly with the hardware. This is the 3rd out of 3 Engenius product I have bought that is defective. I have banned my IT company from using Engenius products accordingly. Stay away.

Just an excellent product for bridging two LANs
Received the pair promptly. Physical installation was very simple and straightforward. Configuration setup was a little technical so required some reading (excellent sources of information). Took me around 2 hours to configure and test. Transmission speed is a steady 40MB over a distance of 350 meters. Thank you.
