Horizons Mathematics: Level 1 Teacher's Guide

I used Horizons math for all three of my homeschooled children, up through the first book of second grade. As far as math goes, it's a solid program. It is a spiral method (vs. mastery) which introduces new concepts in increments with constant review. The pages are colorful and inviting, but not overwhelming and too busy. I haven't used Saxon, but have heard it's similar in style but without all the colors. As far as the teacher's guide goes, I honestly didn't feel it was necessary since I already knew basic math. But if you like everything laid out for you (even if you know the concepts, but need help explaining things to your child) then I'd recommend getting the guide.

This seller was wonderful! I received my book in 3 days when it estimated a full 5-7 days. I am a extremely blessed and happy homeschooling mama.I originally purchased a gently used guide, advertised to be with all pages. I was misled completely. Just bite the bullet and buy new.

Only the book Part 2 of the teacher's guide arrived, which begins on page 375 with the content indicated for exercises and additional worksheets, however the book of the Part 1 of the teacher's guide did not arrive, and is the most important and the reason why I bought this Guide.I want the money back or the shipment of the missing book for the price I already paid.

I have used Horizons math with great success for 5 years now. I like that the program frequently reviews prior topics to help keep the information fresh.

I was expecting the full teacher's guide for 1st grade. What I got, however, was part one of two. I do not have the answer key or the additional worksheets, which are included in the description for this item. A large part of my decision to order the teacher's guide was the worksheets. Not sure what the others sellers are offering, but Media&Books_Store is who I bought from. If the seller makes this right, I'll come back and add to my review, but I'm not expecting it.Edit 5/14/2012: The seller is going to refund my money and let me keep the book. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but at least the seller is making it right.

This was the perfect choice for my 1st grade students!!! Would highly recommend this textbook and teacher's guide. Highly recommend.

An incomplete book.
