Valkyria Chronicles 2: World Artworks (VALKYRIA CHRONICLES SC)

The media could not be loaded. Since I already have the Japanese edition of the book (ISBN 4047268577), I borrowed the English edition for this review.Valkyria Chronicles 2: World Artworks is presented in a similar fashion as the first art book, Valkyria Chronicles Design Archive.It's thinner at 304 pages which is still quite thick. The binding looks good enough. It doesn't have the dust jacket as the Japanese edition.The video game Valkyria Chronicles II is only for the PlayStation Portable, which unfortunately I don't have so I can't comment on the completeness of the content.Half the book is on the characters and the other half covers art for the tanks, weapons, backgrounds, storyboards and other miscellaneous art. What's missing is the narrated guide to the story. The artistic style is similar to the first book.The character art section has the character profiles, their roles in the game, the designs including uniform changes. There are notes and little details relating to the game - basically things like how they relate to other game characters. There's even more character sketches at the back of the book.The Weapons and Machines section covers the tanks, armed weapons and the soldier armor and equipment. The tanks beautifully designed and painted, as usual. As for the weapons, they are cool but aren't too many and the designs are minor iterations to those from the first game.The background art are paintings and sketches with commentary. The places covered include the towns, buildings and various rooms. The architecture and set designs are beautiful. They are printed a bit small though.It's a wonderful book but if you already have the first art book, everything feels awfully familiar. If you can only get one book, you should get the first one. its a great book, but more of the same. Its character break downs and weapon and vehicle concepts.Really nice concepts and rough art as well as some nice finished pieces. If your a fan of the game,you'll love this book

Having bought the VC1 artbook, it's large like it's previous incarnation and filled with amazing artwork and goodies ranging from concept sketches to in-depth character bios and many more all translated in english! They clearly didn't skim anything compared to the first one as the book was clearly made for the fans and is absolutely worth getting! I'm very happy to add this to my collection!

Another great product from Udon. The first VC art book set the bar for what to expect from these releases. This second outing doesn't disappoint. A wealth of information from weapons to characters. Beautiful full page illustrations selectively sprinkled through this large book. If your a fan of this series its a no-brainer to get this NOW. If you're a fan of art books in general I still recommend it highly.

While I don't own the second game in the Franchise, and bitterly disappointed with SEGA for failing to localize the 3rd game. This wonderful several hundred page art book details mostly the characters and environment of Valkyria Chronicles 2. It serves as an excellent resource for art related to the second game, and builds up on the 1st's very lengthy debut.There's less world building artwork, as this focuses more on the characters and plot elements. Eagerly awaiting the Third Book's release.

As a big fan of the VC series, I had been waiting a long time to get around to buying this book and i'm very happy with what i got. Looking through it reminded me of playing the game all those years ago.The artbook arrived a day earlier than I had expected (which was only a few days already). It was packaged nicely without any damage. The book itself is what was advertised. Great purchase.

Tengo un amigo al que le gusta comprar libros de arte y tiene en su colección varios libros de esta editorial, entre ellos el de Resident evil 6, Okami y el del primer Valkyria Chronicles, compre este libro junto con el del tercer juego porque al ser fan de esta franquicia y conocer la calidad de los libros de dicha editorial no pude resistirme en tenerlos, y solo no compre el del primero porque no habian ejemplares disponibles.El precio es un poco elevado en conparación con el de otros libros de arte (al menos si lo compras desde Amazon México y no en Amazon US) que he visto en amazon pero vale totalmente la pena pues la calidad del libro es tremenda, tiene 304 páginas cada una de ellas con hermosas ilustraciones del juego, desde bocetos de personajes y armas hasta CG's sacadas del mismo juego, y en cada una no solo hay imagenes sino mucha información para complementarlas, en resumen es un excelente libro para los fans de esta franquicia y hasta para los que no han jugado el juego pero les gusta este tipo de ilustraciones.
