Ready for the unexpected.
just two days after purchasing this product. me and my boyfriend were parked on a rock jetty about to unload the car and walk down to the beach. out of nowhere, a rogue wave struck the jetty pushing three cars off and into the ocean. my boyfriend and myself were both in the vehicle. plunging front end first into the water from a 5 foot drop, the vehicle immediately rolled onto its topside and began to flood. i had these strapped to both of the front windscreen visors and were able to smash free from the vehicle. having this tool at close reach took us out of a very dangerous and stressful situation very quickly. i have ordered a second pair for my new vehicle.

False Fraud Gimic = RUN AWAY
PLEASE, test this before you trust it! I used the StatGear and I struck tempered glass three times HARD and no breaks. I then used a RESQME and one spring hit and the glass shattered. Check my records, I'm just another customer with no interest in supporting anyone. I'm concerned that people trust this and they should NOT! I then tried to cut real seat belt material, rope, even paper! This StatGear is pathetically dull and not capable of doing it's job. Again I tested with a RESQME and that one easily cut through real seat belt webbing. I can't explain their video, but what they are shipping does not work like that video.

LIFE SAVER
I was recently in a rollover accident in my truck. Hanging upside down my seatbelt would not release. After my initial shock from the impact and some panic over not being able to get out of my seatbelt the green handle of the cutter caught my eye. Because it was on the outside of my visor it was easily accessible. I was quite shocked how easily this cut through the seatbelt. This cutter is no joke. Even though I still had to be cut out of my truck be emergency personnel I was able to move enough that I was not in the way as much as I would have been if I was still stuck in the seatbelt. I have now put one of these in everyone's car that I care about. My wife said the bright green is somewhat distracting but agree that in a panic situation she would be much more likely to remember it was there.I highly recommend this product and would never drive a car without one of these on the driver side visor.Including a rental car. Very easy installation. The picture is the one in my Dodge Challenger.

Should be standard equipment in all cars!
One of those things you buy and hope you never have to use. This is a well built, and nicely designed emergency escape tool, which I have placed in all my cars and plan on buying more as gifts for family and friends. Easy to install, and not obtrusive like other emergency tools on the market. Very pleased and like I said, hopefully I will never have to use it.Oh in regards to some of the 2 star ratings and negative feedback, this tool is not intended for diving, nor is it advertised for such. As a diver you should know, there's over 150 grades of stainless steel. Gear that will be exposed to extreme (salt) water generally use the most corrosion resistant version (very high chromium content) of stainless steel. Due to the nature of this tool and its intended use, it wouldn't make economical sense to use such a high grade and costly version of stainless steel. If they did, I'm almost certain they could not be able to offer it as such an affordable price. So if you used this tool underwater, specially in salt water and it rusted, it's not the manufacturers or items fault, but your own for assuming you could. This device is also not intended to cut glass, but aid in breaking it. Cutting glass vs breaking it requires two different approaches and the material used to do so is also quite different. If you want to cut glass, buy a glass cutter. If you use this device for cutting other material, such as wires, cables, ties, etc, you can and will most likely damage the blade portion of the tool. Once again, this is not intended for such use, so if you use it for anything other than what it is being advertised for, don't be shocked if you ruin the tool. It's some what comical how many of the negative or 1 star reviews are all from those who used this tool in a manor it was not intended to be. Then as if they have been duped, leave an unjust review. This is a tool that essentially should only be used in an emergency. It has two very specific purposes, and using it in an environment or manor it was not designed to be, can damage and or make this device ineffective.

Be careful
A little over a year ago i was in a rollover accident in my truck. Luckily in that instance i was able to click my belt off however my truck was smoking and the whole ordeal was eye opening. After i saw this i knew i had to have it. In my accident everything in the center console went flying and some stuff was on the opposite side of the road. More than likely youre not gonna be able to reach into your glovebox. (Assuming that doesnt go airborne aswell). A visor strap is so simple but so effective and i can honestly say i feel safer with this in my new truck.But.....a concern i had regarding this is the police. If you get pulled over all a cop might see is this guy has a blade right over his head semi-concealed. In my truck i have rain guards on the windows and a curved frame so it stays out of sight unless you know to look for it but it’s something to consider. I dont know any legal anything not gonna pretend i do. Just keep that in mind

Amazing customer service!
Amazing customer service! Excellent quality and a useful tool I hope to never need to use. Unfortunately, I have the problem that my visors are really large (7" wide, 18" long). The elastic and velcro strap that comes with the tool's pouch doesn't fit around my visor. I contacted StatGear with the problem and they were very responsive and worked to find a solution. Unfortunately, this seems to be an uncommon issue so there is no fix at the moment. StatGear worked with me and I'm happy with how things turned out. I will work to find a solution to the strap problem on my own. Excellent customer service!

Compact and good quality emergency tool for Rally or Track Cars
After a lot of searching and research I purchased this for a Westfield fitted with 3inch Schroth harnesses and a full cage - access in and out is already challenging at the best of times! In the event of an accident and a jammed release buckle the seats grip so tightly the only way to wriggle out would be to cut the 3 inch wide straps on the seatbelt. There is somewhat limited info on emergency tools online so I hope this extended review helps others in their purchasing.I did consider the more expensive leatherman LT125 or Gul S13. The Gul looked well made but lacked a handle and the leatherman was, I felt, too bulky for a small vehicle like a caterham or Westfield. I wanted a well made but compact emergency tool which I could fasten under the dash for use in the event of an accident. This XT is a good size, not too compact that you can’t get gloved fingers through but not too bulky that it would be difficult to store or mount even in a small track car like a Westfield, caterham, atom, bac mono etc. The steel extends all the way through the handle which is overlaid with a tactile plastic so there is no risk you will pull the handle off in operation - and was why I went with this rather than some other cheaper options on Amazon.Window punch is labelled stainless on packaging. It is riveted/ pinned to the frame and sits in a notch so it cannot rotate in operation.Packaging says frame is 440 stainless and it is magnetic which suggests a martensitic stainless like a 440. The punch is also magnetic (conforming packaging “stainless” and not carbide). At first I thought the positioning of the glass breaker was badly designed because when held point up the point is not axial to your hand and if you hit glass you are not hitting it straight with the point. But turning the XT around and holding it like a combat knife with the point down, the point is then directly under the hand. Bringing the arm down in a stabbing motion on a window holding the XT would, I’m sure, be very effective. The good:Stainless frame extends all the way through the handle so no chance of handle breaking or coming detached under extreme force.Sharp hook and steel measures 2.4mm thick on the frame. Robust, razor sharp and should cut through even the thickest straps and harnesses.Decent glass breaker (not needed on the Westfield but could be a lifesaver if I come across a RTA) and glass breaker is securely riveted with a recess notch to prevent it rotating under load. The not so good:The elastic on the back of the pouch is the only way to easily mount it (for a visor it would be adequate) but it would be good if it had a dedicated robust webbing loop to zip tie it somewhere. I’d be worried in the violence of a crash it breaks free with just elastic to restrain it. I will zip tie it on the flap to secure it in place.Packaging has generic images which suggest glass breaker is held point up, to be effective the unit is designed to be held point down for breaking glass. Documentation in general is non existent on packaging and, given the nature of this product it could benefit from some detailed simple instructions on packaging since the first time you use this product is probably going to be in an emergency. In summary a decently designed and well made bit of kit which I hope I never need to use - but is good to know is there should it be required.Recommend.

Good, but definitely overpriced
Happy enough with product, only criticism is that I feel it is overpriced. Smaller than what I was expecting too.

Wife bought thsee!
Wife purchased two of these for our vehicles, we havn't had to use them for intended use. But overall seem to be a great product, great quality. Comes with a band to attach it to your sun visor in the vehicle. God forbid your ever in a situation where youll need this product. But if you are, your gunna be glad you have this to rip your seat belt, or smash your window with ease.
