Pricey, but worth it in the end
When I opened the Amazon box, I was surprised that the book was so compact. As I read on, I forgot about the size of the book and began to appreciate the usefulness of the information it contains.I joined a hand-bell choir in September 2009. It looked easy, but was anything but. I have been in vocal choirs on and off from a very young age, but was stumped by the hand-bells. I came home exhausted and with a pounding headaches from early practices. I was the newest member in a group that had been together for 10 years. Things continued to move a long. I decided I needed outside help.I've purchased other hand-bell book, but this is the first one that spoke to me and helped me understand. It was like someone turned on a light switch in a pitch black room. It all began to make sense to me.This book, which apparently aimed at directors, is an immense help to me as a beginner. In addition to illuminating the basics, it also provides resource material for further development.Good find.Good find.

Great for serious bell ringers
This book is very detailed and I imagine it would be quite useful for someone wanting to start and run an entire hand-bell program or ministry (several bell-choirs). It is probably too much for someone just looking for some guidance about using handbells in a children's music ministry. It is definitely aimed at more advanced programs or at least at programs that want to make a lot of progress in terms of musicianship and ability. There is not much in it that would be relevant to a children's program that isn't really intended as a learning program to shape ringers for more advanced music. If you're looking for a fairly detailed guide, this would be a great book to have. It is full of wisdom from an author who clearly is an expert about handbells.

Cute, but it Needs Work
Not a textbook mind you, but it's okay. Not a technique book on hand bells, disappointing. Supplemental to a technique book.

Handbell Helper
This was most helpful in our beginning handbell group. The reading is quite easy and the pointers are certainly worth the time.
