Purchased for athletic endeavor, but never put to the test
I needed gloves that would provide protection from splinters, rope burns, and road rash. I tried a couple brands in the hopes of finding my glass slipper... But in gloves, and not fragile like glass. On second thought that is a bad analogy. This pair intrigued me because of the extra knuckle busting protection. Turns out my particular needs simply never required this. I ended up using gloves from the company Youngstown Gloves that did have some wear issues but eventually won me over by virtue of their quick drying and flexibility. It also turned out that even though there were a couple areas that wore out quickly in my other gloves, it was mostly cosmetic and they held together where it counted.Back to the Ironclads. First, the extra 'armor' on the back of the fingers makes it difficult to bend your fingers. While this may soften over time, I just couldn't give it enough patience to find out. Second, I felt like this glove ran a little small. Not sure if I'm a whole size up, but it was difficult to get my hand into a large. I'm a 200lb guy at 5'10", so I feel like I'm a large by most standards. But am I an XL? Well, I won't be figuring out that answer, but be aware that you may want to go bigger right off the bat.Positives are that the gloves really do seem to be manufactured of high quality materials and with impeccable craftsmanship. To this end I might be willing to try other models from this company as a safe gamble. From the training I did in them they provided non-slip grip, did not suffer undue wear and tear, nor did they end up smelling like feet as my other gloves do. Not sure if there is a purposeful anti-bacterial compound in them, or maybe I didn't put enough sweat into them. Either way they seemed superior in this aspect as well. The Velcro fastener at the wrist seems a bit weak, but this was a relatively common flaw in all gloves I tested. Bending at the wrist puts a lot of strain on that portion of the glove. Through more pedestrian use they stayed closed.Overall the comfort really took away from otherwise well made gloves. This is why I gave them 3 stars.

Spent a weekend doing rust repair on a land rover defender....
And the gloves are trashed. Seam pulled apart just pulling them on and off. palm material got destroyed by sharp steel edges. My hands are fine tho, but $20 for a weekend of work isn't great value.
