Webster's New World Hebrew Dictionary

This is a superbly useful reference book. The author has designed a format which provides the transliteration for each Hebrew word and phrase into the Western (Roman) alphabet used in English, so that the reader of either language can "connect" from the Hebrew alphabet to the Western, and vice versa. And so, the reader can "translate" effectively between the two languages. The value of the transliterated format is of great importance to language students at all levels. The "standard" usage of both the Hebrew and Western alphabets is also presented for each word and phrase, and accompanied by the transliterated form, so that clear communication is made possible.

Going wrong direction

I think the first three times I was looking for a translation I was disappointed then the book went on a hot streak. I think my digital resources were unavailable and I sat down and got some really encouraging angles and translations from this book. No nekudos (vowel points). The arrangement was different but it helped a lot. “Ez gedol sof deberim”

I'm learning hebrew and I have had a difficult time with maneuvering through the dictionary.

The book is amazing. Must have if you're learning Hebrew.But the delivery... The book is jammed and damaged. It came just in a simple plastic bag, no protection at all. I'm very sad. I treat books with care, and here...I don't know who to blame: the seller of Amazon.

This book was worth it's price just in the introduction. "Nobody can remember those rules, so they do not use diacritical marks and just use 'a' for every vowel then memorize the words." That says everything. This is useful information for modern Hebrew like that used in Israel today. But, of limited Biblical use. Still if you are a self-learner like I am, it provides useful information.

Get the other one. You will waste hours with this one

Perfect for my needs I don't know many Hebrew words, and this book is easy to read and understand.

Not easy to look up Hebrew words. You need some previous expertise in Hebrew to get some profit with it.
