The different scenarios are sufficiently gruesome to qualify as reasonable and in most cases dire CoC adventures. The main problem is that two of these adventures are in all probability terminal; there will be no survivors no matter what the investigators attempt. Another minus to the collection is that none of the stories are connected, each is a one off. Finally, all scenarios are in different times. The first one takes place in Victorian England and most of the ambience will be lost if transferred (it's possible) to a 1920's/1930's timeline. The second story is of 1930's vintage but would work in Victorian England and modern day with a bit of massaging. Number three, a modern scenario would work in 1920/1930, but requires substantial work on the side of the Keeper as well as diligent research. The fourth story can be adjusted to any time period, but the fifth is stuck in the future. Scenario number one is the most detailed, 32 pages of info, plot,characters, and good hints on how to play a scene and move the plot along. The following stories are shorter 22, 20, 15 and 18 pages respectively and also have the same good advice on how to manage the play. Overall I gave the book (don't be deceived by the cover, that scene does not appear in the book) a three because of a final problem. Most, if not all scenarios, require six players to be successfully run and each scenario has player character sheets made up specifically for each story, a waste of space in my opinion, detracting from more detailed plot formation and story line. The one pro for these character sheets is that each scenario may be run immediately but then requires the players to refer to the sheets constantly because of unfamiliarity.

Questa raccolta contiene 5 scenari per per il gioco di ruolo "Richiamo di Cthulhu" (Call of Cthulhu) ma facilmente adattabili anche al gioco fratello "Sulle tracce di Cthulhu" (Trail of Cthulhu). Ognuno si focalizza su un differente periodo storico, dall'epoca vittoriana al futuro remoto. Perfetto per chi voglia alternare ai classici scenari, ambientati nel New England, qualcosa di diverso ma di altrettanto suggestivo. In lingua inglese.
