I love this book
I love this book! My favorite travel book thus far. My husband and I are planning a big travel trip and this book clued us into places and events I'm thrilled to experience. It's very colorful, fun, and easy to read. I'm searching for another one like this that is more tailored to Latin America.

Fascinating Coffee Table Book, but Useless (Maps Needed)
This book would be great for armchair travelers, since it is full of bunches of fascinating worldwide travel destinations, many of which I haven't heard about before. Most, but not all, of them have nice photos, and the descriptions make most of them seem very compelling.Much of it is impractical blue-sky however, e.g. Fly to the South Pole (Jan 3), Swim the English Channel (July 6). Some of them are merely seasonal (especially the outdoor destinations) rather than festivals that occur on specific days, and so you wonder why it has to pretend that a specific day is the one to choose. For some, the date of the specific event (e.g. Coachella Music Festival) change with the year, so giving a specific date is misleading. Also I question some of the choices -- for a country I know about, what they picked is not the best, and not the only occurrence of the activity they chose. I get the feeling the 365-day constraint made they have to leave off things if there was already something else for that day. However, it doesn't try very hard to be an actually useful book. It really needs some regional maps which show what events are in a certain area. If I want to focus on great things to do in just N. America, for example, there is no easy way to see what those are without simply paging through the entire book.It would also be nice if it had a few topic lists, e.g. list of all the music festivals it mentions, lists of all the animal observations, lists of all the religious holidays, lists of all the hikes, or river rafting, etc.And for many destinations, the book doesn't give enough information to really know where it is, e.g. Watch Elephant Seals Fight (Dec 15), is listed as being in "Año Nuevo State Reserve, California" -- do I consider doing it on at trip to San Diego, to Los Angeles, to Santa Barbara, to San Francisco, or to Humboldt County? I shouldn't have to go elsewhere to figure out where this event actually is (south of SF and north of Monterey Bay). The book is nicely produced, feels good in the hands, is easy to flip through, with large page numbers at the edges. It is a good travel idea generator, but not a great guide. As a coffee table book, it would make a great gift for the right person.

Really fun book with interesting facts.
I like the idea of this book. But I cannot see its use in today’s digital age nor is it practical. The idea of this book is that it lists locations and events based on calendar dates. So for example, on February 17, 2015, you’d want to be in New Orleans for Mardi Gras. The problem is that this book is only going to be valid for 2015. These things change over time so by the time you are ready for your adventurous year, the book may be outdated. I can easily find this information online that would be more accurate and more detailed that what this book can provide. So if someone is buying this book given the above limitations, it’s a great book. For others, Wikipedia may offer much insight if you are really want to now the significance of a particular date. What it offers that Wikipedia doesn’t is that it’s well organized. You can look up information not only by date but also by location (continents and countries). I would love to see a similar book that covers only North America or Europe. I don’t think a lot of people have the time or money to travel to the South Pole.I gave it 4 stars because it delivers what it promised. It's definitely very interesting to read and will grab your attention instantly.

Gorgeous photos, intriguing entries.
This book is for the dreamer. It's definitely not a Fodor's-style guide to travel, with information-rich entries, but instead it's a sort of whimsical "What about..." jump start to imagination and maybe even the next item on your bucket list. The book is, indeed, arranged chronologically - January 1st to December 31st - with a new destination suggested for each day. The suggestions are based on that date being the most appealing time to visit that destination. The entries are brief, but intriguing, and the photography is gorgeous. And there seems to be something for just about any travel type: outdoor enthusiasts, history buffs, foodies, culturally curious, you name it and you'll find a suggestion for it here.I appreciate the Index in the back of the book, as it's the only place to see lists of suggestions for any given destination. I understand the format here is to go day-by-day, but in some ways I would have liked a more visual representation of the "where," as I'm much more likely to start in the US and go from there.Beautiful, enjoyable book for dreaming and some day translating bucket list items to confirmed itinerary!

A beautiful book for any travel seekers!
I'm expecting it to be larger in size, like a big hardcover book, but silly me for not reading the description enough. Not complaining tho! I bought this because of its contents! It is a beautiful book with lots of photographs and informations. It is compiled or written based on days, so it starts of with Jan 1st and ending with Dec 31st. Each day has its own unique or interesting places to visit. Don't expect the details/information to be in-depth, its just tells you what the date is, what the activity/events, where it is, why it is best at that date, a short description and a large photo.I would recommend this to anyone who loves travel. This also would be a great idea for a gift/present!

but just sitting of an evening flicking through the book and talking about what we'd like to do together is lovely
It's a lovely little book that is full of surprises and lessons. Some of the places/events feel a bit lazy and there's nothing you couldn't find out online, but just sitting of an evening flicking through the book and talking about what we'd like to do together is lovely, so was worth the money.
