I have used this light for over a year - it is still going strong. This was purchased to replace a LED gooseneck light. It was equally bright but the light was very blue. I photograph mineral specimens at 5 - 15X; the blue LED washed out the color in the minerals. The unit is heavy. At almost 10 lbs. the base stays in place as the goosenecks are adjusted to the appropriate field. Requiring less power, base unit on the led light moves before the light can be adjusted - very annoying. The unit arrives in two parts, the transformer and the gooseneck assembly. Attachment is via a collar that fits over the tube for the light source. It is held in place via two thumbscrews which hold perfectly well with finger tightening. The unit does have a cooling fan that is audible but not annoying. The light is variable via a rheostat from zero to very bright. The advertisement claims the color temperature is 3200 k. I think that when turned up to full power the temperature is much higher than that. It looks more like 6000 k to me. Photos require little color correction.I am surprised that this has no other reviews. It is an excellent unit and great value. I have no complaints at all.EDIT: 2017 unit fell off the bench - meh. . .still works fine. Now ordering another one for a second scope.
