Excellent informative and very easy to read book helping owners wlecome new dogs into their homes.
Excellent book. Full of good ethical and modern positive methods and approaches. I lent it to my local Rescue a few weeks ago and they have put it on their 'recommended' list. I may have to buy another one as they seem to be keen to hang on to the book also!

Not worth £14.99
Really disappointed with this book. First of all This is a very small book at just over 100 pages, most of which are pictures. There was very little about bringing your dog home, the first night and helping your dog settle which I would have expected from a book on rescue dogs. There are a few good tips but nothing that justifies the large price tag. Most of the training tips are common sense or easily found online so I haven't learn anything new from this book. Perhaps if you have no idea about caring for a dog this would be helpful.I would send it back for a refund if the postage wasn't so high!

Best book I've read for a long time
Love this book. I have done some dog training and this has shown me a thing or two I needed to know for my 2 rescues.

Best Dog Training Book
This book is possibly the best dog training book I have come across and I have dozens. It is very simply written with no jargon , is very easy to follow and concentrates on best practice methods. It is suitable for all dogs not just rescue dogs and I now recommend it to all of my pupils as a go to reference.

Good behavioural advice
Good clear guidance- covers most of the issues from basic introductions of a rescue to thinking about expectations and how to address issues using only positive reward based techniques

Absolutely required for any new Dog parent.
Totally to the point. Easy to read & easy to understand. I bought this before I adopted a rescue dog because I was worried/nervous about what I was letting myself in for....... I am so glad I got this book. Whilst I accept it won't all be plain sailing I feel I now have a great helper to overcome any blips. If you are thinking of adopting or have adopted a rescue, this book is an absolute must have.

I would recommend this book to all first time dog owners
I would recommend this book to all first time dog owners. It is very clear and gets straight to the point. This lets you crack on with training within minutes of picking it up. We have been using the methods described with our rescue dog and she has picked everything up really quickly. Most importantly it has given us a lot more confidence to introduce her to new things and walk her in new places. Worth every penny!

Good for training, but lacking in other areas
I have to confess that I haven't read all of this book as I have to agree with the previous review that although the book gives good tips on how to train your dog, it didn't cover what I was most worried about when I adopted my rescue dog - how to prepare, the first night, the early days of settling a dog etc. I found another book that did cover all of that and will probably use this one in the future just for the training aspect, but it doesn't go into much detail on what it does cover.
