JavaScript: The Good Parts

Not for the novice. Perfect for clearing basics.
Personal Recommendation: Not a book for complete javascript beginners. Buy to clear some basics here or thereShort story: Consice. Crisp. High Credibility. Definite Read.Long Story:A little bit of my back story. The first every programming language I embarked upon was C++. Only to be never used again by me on any production ready code I've ever written. So, one day a thought struck me. I thought why not take on a journey already burdened by millions of developers around the world. Here I was, starting yet another Web Developer journey. So, for that I learned Javascript from a few recommended online tutorials including TeamTreeHouse . And yet one day working on one of Open Source organisations codebase, I was getting awfully confused with the notation they seem to be using. So, me being more of a book guy, thought why not just clear my basics. And since I've worked quite enough in it to know how to code in it ( coding in a language and understanding it are completely different aspects :) , I wanted a book which could clear my basics of javascript and doesn't take a whole lot of my time reading it. It has that additional feature of telling the best practices of JS which is a bonus. I would have been more contented though has this book had some more examples to present. In the end the book did the trick for me.

Must Have book
Loved each and every line of the book. The way author describes the bad programming patterns and mitigating those shortcomings is great. The railroad diagrams made things visualize easily. If you have already been programming JS for sometime , this is probably the book you have to read. Other books might tell you the basics of JS , but this book will tell you how to use those basics applying right patterns.JavaScript has both good and bad parts . A sound knowledge on the good parts is what you will get by reading this book. The author himself quotes “If you want to learn more about the bad parts and how to use them badly, consult any other JavaScript book.”I felt lively , like sitting next to the author while reading most of the text.

Maybe good for someone, Not JS Reference book.
The book would be good for someone also clearly mentioned it's not a reference book. So for me it was not enough useful.

Read before you buy. Whose this book is for?
This is a good book. But don't expect all the advanced stuff... Every basic thing will be covered in good way. It's good to have for who is learning JavaScript from beginner level, but not for advanced level. Every topic will have 1 to 2 pages... How it works Behind the scenes is well explained. Not many examples are shown. No diagrams except few flow graphs. It's ok to have but don't expect much from it. I recommend 'Head First JavaScript' for fun and in-depth learning...******No content about DOM. Just JS. But if you are a beginner, this is the best. Quality is perfect. Delivered earlier than expected.

good book, but not for absolute beginners
it's a good book, but this is not for absolute beginners if you have basic knowledge and working experience with javascript then this is a right choice, otherwise, if you want to start learning JS please read one of these books first - Speaking JavaScript by Axel Rauschmayer, JavaScript: The Definitive Guide by David Flanagan or any other book you like.

For Very much Beginners
I bought this book and thinking that it might cover many good parts for experience developers but seems to be not that great content. It is really helpful for a one who is coming from Java Background and for a New learner, clearly explained the logics and building blocks of JS.if you like the review hit like.
