The Van Gogh Deception (The Lost Art Mysteries)

Fast-paced and action-packed
I am a big fan of Estelle Ryan's art mystery series. Deron Hicks has created the YA version that has two tweets thwarting the bad guys. There are a lot of interesting art facts in this book, and I loved the QR codes that were linked to images of the artwork mentioned. This is a great way for the past and present to connect. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can see its appeal to both an adult and YA audience.

Clever and Fun - Plesantly Surprised!
I only expected to want to read the 1st book in the series. Thought it would be silly - a little fun fluff for the kids, that's all. But as soon as I finished, I put the next book in our cart. Impressed with the clever plot twists! Some of the "bad guy" scenes are a bit like Mission Impossible for kids (but clean). Lots of fun, 2 smart and independent kids, and just the right amount of intensity. Terrific summer reading!

I loved everything about this story.
I loved everything about this story. The subject matter (Van Gogh and Impressionism Art) and the adventure of the story worked very well to me. It was really a fun read. The interactive QR Reader for the masterpieces of art was very unique. I'm buying this book for my grandsons for Christmas and have recommended it to several friends as a great read. Full disclosure. I know Deron Hicks very well and I have been impressed with him for many years. I'm now even more impressed. Well done, Deron!

face-paced action that is suitable for 4th grade through middle school. The constant action should keep even those with shorter attention spans, engrossed. Some may consider it improbable how the two children are constantly turning the tables on those after them, but it is all done in a fairly realistic manner

Exceptionally well written and loads of fun.
Both children intrinsic to this story are equal contributors to their own survival and success. They think like children, and recognize their cooperation with one another is their best option. The story is absolutely fun and fraught with peril.Kids loved the story. My nephew was discovered with his flashlight, under the comforter, past bedtime, with The Van Gogh Deception.

Seems interesting enough for my son to read.
My son loves to read. He’s an advanced reader but wanted to try a suggested book by his teacher. The good thing is he didn’t get bored despite the lower reading level. He really enjoyed reading it.
