My Family - Complete Series 1-11 [DVD] [2000]

It took one episode to get us hooked. I’ve never laughed so much for any comedy. Funnier than Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, or Frasier.The characters come out with so many quips and funny things that if you don’t pay attention you will miss funny stuff. Fast moving too.

Review written by an American.I loved this show back when it aired on BBC America, but sadly hadn't seen it since, until I came across it here on Amazon, and it's just as hilarious as I remembered it. It's not a show which relies on "British humor", and generally it's not crude humor, so if you like other Britcoms like Are You Being Served, you'll like this show.Each series is packaged in its own hard slim case, 1 or 2 disks to a series, and the specials are on their own disks, so they arrived without damage and all disks still in their holders even after their transatlantic trip. The video and audio quality is excellent, and the price is amazing for what you get.

This is a great series. Really funny. Season 1-4 is available for Region 1 (US) players and will work on an American DVD player but the rest of the series are region 2(Europe). The series is so good we bought a DVD player that works for all regions. It was not really expensive and does just as well on US DVD'S. All the DVDS in this box are region 2. Well worth the investment.

I live in the U.S. and this is one of my favorite British comedies. I waited a long time to get the rest of the series DVD's. Not sure what took them so long! My Family was only available up to the 4th series...so this full DVD collection box was a gem. You also get the hard to find Christmas specials. The DVD picture quality is equal to standard definition.Thumbs up and definitely a must-have if you're a big fan of the show!

I've been wanting to buy this for years but held back hoping a U.S. regional version would be made/sold. Finally caved and bought it. It doesn't play on a U.S DVD player but does play on the cd player via computer which I already had hooked up to my TV so it worked out. Otherwise I'd have to get a multi-regional player

This is the best British sitcom to hit the airwaves and although many good British sitcoms have been broadcast in the U.S. quite successfully I don't know why this one is so hard to find. As I understand it the first four seasons have been published in the U.S. as region 1 conversions, however the remaining 7 seasons cannot be found in region 1 form. I use one of my laptops hooked up to my TV to watch them - I can convert my laptop DVD drive to read region 2 DVD's, although I am restricted to 4 switches from region 1 to region 2. I think I will just keep one laptop DVD drive as region 2, the other one to standard U.S. region 1.

I purchased this dvd set at the same time I ordered a region-free player. I had seen episodes of My Family on PBS and enjoyed it very much. Ben and Susan Harper are so good together, they really do have chemistry. The rest of the cast is also good, with some leaving the show as others are added on. I thought the price was a bit high (for me) but you really do get your money's worth, as there are 11 seasons of the show plus two dvds of Christmas episodes. I'm about halfway through watching the set now. I recommend it, but remember, in order to watch this you do need an all-regions player.

Got this and an all region dvd player for my wife's birthday. She loves the show, but has only been able to catch random episodes on pbs. And unfortunately last time I checked only the first season (maybe 2) were available to buy in US format. So I figured she wouldn't expect something she didn't think she could have. I've already double checked that the disks work in the new dvd player, and she has a week until she can enjoy. But I see pj's, a warm blanket with a cuddly dog and some pizza in her future while enjoying a show she loves.

We only had season 1&2 as that is all the released in North America. We bought a region free DVD player and this box set and have been binge watching it since it arrived. This is a great show and a really nice set. It arrived quickly and we couldn’t be happier.

Super coffret avec l'intégral de la famille Harper. Des heures de rigolade! Pas de sous titres français mais les sous-titres anglais sont facilement compréhensibles.Je suis ravie de cet achat à prix raisonnable et avec une livraison rapide sans souci.

I remembered this from years back, caught a few episodes back in the 2000's . However I started working a bit too much around that time and would only catch up with an episode or two when I was back in England.Then about 4 years ago I got rid of My TV ( long story ) but I also bought the My Family box set.You have Ben Harper ( Played by Robert Lindsay, I first came across him with ' Citizen Smith ' ), the sort of down trodden head of the family that is a dentist ( It is played for so much comical relief through out the series in that people assume he is a failed doctor ).You have Susan Harper, his wife ( Played by Zoë Wanamaker ) . She is the stabilising figure to Bens stressed out attitude, although occasionally she is the antagonist :)Now we come to the 3 kids.Only really appearing in the first few series is Nick ( played by Kristopher Marshall ), Think he was the best of the kids, was just so diametrically opposite to the family, but still fitted in.There was Janey ( played by Daniela Denby-Ashe ), started out as the teenager that was the arch typical girl teenager that was obsessed by material things. Later in the series she has a kid, and I think that was where the series started to fall a bit, not because of that ... it just seemed to loose the balance of comedic and serious that made it so great to start with.Then you have Mickey ( Played by Gabriel Thomson ), Probably the least believable character in the family but does have some good juxtaposition as far as putting other characters in place.Basically I really love this series. Is just fun, without the usual crap ' you should think about this '.At least for the first couple of series it is a great UK sitcom, probably my favourite. It does lose a bit later on but is worth a look.Can't remember how much I bought it for but was worth the money for the first 4-5 series.

Great show and the box sets easy to store one of my favourite shows to chuck on when I need a laugh really funny

Bevor ich hier etwas zum Produkt schreibe vorab eine kleine Anmerkung:Ich habe die Box leider mit zwei Anläufen bestellen müssen. Da es sich hier um einen Import handelt gibt es auch keine Altersfreigabe für die Box. Das heißt das man bei der Anlieferung persönlich mit Personalausweis anwesend sein muss. Das war und ist sicherlich nicht das Problem, wenn man es weiß. Aber wenn der Lieferant sich erst gar nicht die Mühe macht zu klingeln, und das auch gleich drei mal hintereinander, dann ist es ärgerlich. Auch der unendliche Mailverkehr danach ist einfach nur lästig. Aber dank DHL war der zweite Versuch perfekt. Wenn es möglich wäre, würde ich nur DHL bevorzugen.So, jetzt zur Box. Erst einmal super das es diese hier zu kaufen gibt. Ich bin ein großer Fan britischer Comedy und des britischen Humors. Bisher musste ich immer direkt nach London reisen um aus diesem Bereich etwas zu bekommen.Diese Sitcom lief im deutschen Fernsehen auf Comedy Central, und sie hat mich sofort begeistert. Die Leiden und das Leben der Familie Harper sind einfach nur genial komisch. Alles typisch britisch. Wer sich dafür auch begeistert der kommt um diese Box nicht herum. Mann sollte allerdings englisch verstehen. Die DVD's sind alle im Originalton, was ich ja gerade auch wollte. Das macht es für mich noch lustiger. Es gibt einen Untertitel, allerdings ebenfalls in Englisch.Endlich auch alle Folgen in einer Box mit den Christmas-Specials. Absolute Empfehlung für alle Liebhaber des britischen Humors im Original.Absolute 5 Sterne Bewertung.
