Glass Eye 2000 Standard Edition

Love this. I have already made several pieces I can call my own. I was tried of buying books with patterns I did not really care for but loved doing stained glass so I would make them anyway. Not now! Mine will be one of a kind from now on.

I would recommend this software to anyone who likes to create their own designs. It is easy to use and has a lot of features in just the standard edition alone. I love it!

This is the bare bones program, and other than the most basic CAD functions, it will prompt you to buy an upgraded version. The upgrades are WAY over $150. Dragonfly software did not misrepresent the software, but they did (I believe) intentionally lead you to believe it would do more than it does. I was very unhappy with it.

I have been a user if this software for 15 years now and paided over $450 to buy it . My computer crashed and would not boot to windows at all. I had to pay Mr. Wilks $35 to recover my license on the forth time and he states that i only have one more license left before i have to buy the software again. I parked the brand new license on his server and went to retrieve the licenses only for it say it was a invalid unregistered copy and showed some code i need to call them again about. Do your self a favor and do not deal with this company. They want you to spend $450 one software that you can’t recover from a crash, they need to ship the software with a usb dongle so you don’t loose your program that toy paid really good money for.

Update Jan 2022. A few weeks after emailing and leaving voicemails, I got an email telling me they had found my old message and sent me instructions how to to recover my software license. It wasn’t timely, but they did get back to me and solve my problem.I bought the professional plus edition ($450) of this software several years ago. There is still no software as good as this one for stained glass window design, but it has not been updated in many years. And even though they still offer it for sale, there no longer appears to be any technical support.Even though I have an original disk I cannot unlock the software for use. They have an unfriendly and locked down licensing scheme so you cannot install it on multiple computers. When you upgrade computers you need to park the license on their server and then download it on your new computer. If you have a hard disk crash, as I recently did, you need to get their tech support to unlock your license. I have contacted them several times by phone and email over the past month with NO RESPONSE.I can no longer recommend this product.

The ONLY reason it gets two stars is this is one of the better stained glass design softwares. But, beware. Aside from the cost, the customer service is horrible. No where can you find the license agreement or the arbitrary number (5) of license retrievals. During the 13 years I have used this software, I have had 4 computer issues, 2 software oops moments, and 1 stolen laptop. The results were that I lost my license key and had to ask for a new one (since you can only use the key once, it's not a lifetime license and I hadn't "Parked" the license). The latest time, the software decided to invalidate my license for no good reason other than I opened it to use it, and since I used the most recent Parked License, according to the developer, I am out of renewals. If I want to still use it, I have to fork over another $300. You are allowed 5 renewals (but gee, he gave me 6). Never mind that a year ago I upgraded to the Pro edition, never mind that Dragonfly's licensing rules are arbitrary, archaic and arcane. Can you imagine if other software developers treated their users the same way?Dragonfly is just after your money, use some other means to design your work.

While this is an excellent piece of software be very aware of their stringent licensing scheme. Anytime you want to move your installation/license to another PC, activation code must be moved and "parked" on their server prior to moving. Once moved you can go back online and retrieve the license. While this is fine for most planned moves it does not accommodate hardware (i.e. hard drive, PC, etc) or software failures very well. While this scenario usually only requires one to notify the company for another license, it still take time and effort on your part (also assume you have access to the internet all the time, which most, but not all, do). In addition, the last time I had an issue after switching operating systems, they informed me to use the trial version for two weeks to allow the new system to "settle in" and then notify them again for a new activation key. While understanding the need of the company to protect their intellectual property (IP), there's nothing like spending close to $500 on a piece of software to have the seller tell me when I can or can't use it. Kind of makes you feel like your being held hostage for inconveniencing them. BTW I just received a response from them for my latest query here's step five the re-activation process "5. If you are unable to use AutoHelp because you have not properly followed the steps outlined in this email or in the AutoHelp system itself, you may be assessed a SERVICE FEE to have a support technician guide you through the process". Other than that, and as mentioned at the beginning of this review, this is a very productive piece of software (Five Stars).

Been using Glass Eye 2000 for over 5 years now. The company has been most unresponsive to fixing bugs. For example, on the dragonfly website they state that Glass Eye 2000 works well with Windows 10. It does NOT, and they admit it when you contact them for support. Yet, they are NOT planning to release a fix for about a year. If you are running Windows 10, you should wait until they fix the bugs a year from now.
