KarrimorSF Sabre 30 Backpack One Size Coyote
A**N
Well padded, quite a short back - so almost perfect as a tough ladies day sack
Not to be confused with the "other Karrimor" brand, I have wanted a Karrimor SF backpack for many years, they are a classic 'old school' pack, simple design made from robust materials that should really last. Alas being 6ft (with a long back), this backpack doesn't really work for me, it sits on my waist not my hips - but my daughter is 5ft 5" size 10/12 and finds it almost perfect. The backpack has a 17" back length, is well padded at all touch points. The straps are S shaped and come round the neck nicely - for a ladies sack the padding is quite chunky on the straps but they are comfy.Compared to many 'modern' packs the Sabre is slightly heavier (at c1100gm), but feels utterly bomb proof and has most of the basic features you might need for walking, scrambling and climbing etc. There is a useful lid pocket, lid bungy cord for wet waterproofs, pole/axe attachment points, side compression straps and compact external side pockets. The Sabre 30 doesn't have a few features (which may matter to you). There are no "load lifter" straps to adjust the fit of the straps at the shoulder - but it works fine without them IMO. It doesn't come with a waterproof cover but that is an easy fix. The lid is fixed, lacks internal strap or external D rings, so if you plan to use this as a climbing sack carrying ropes isn't quite as simple. Likewise the waist strap is not removable, another feature that may limit your interest in the Sabre 30 as a climbing sack. It also doesn't have any Molle fittings, so looks less 'military' than the similar, equally robust, Karrimor SF Predator 30.If the colour choices work for you, overall its a great simple, robust backpack. The cost is very fair as it should give years of reliable service.
