Remo Djembe (DJ001432)

I ordered this after watching the movie "The Visitor", and falling in love with the sound. The price is right, the synthetic head does not change with the weather, and the djembe itself is very attractive. The sound is deep and beautiful. A friend got a 12" djembe, thinking that was best for portability, and this one sounds lots better than that one does. In addition, it is light enough for portability. Please note that if you are buying a carry-bag, the tuning pins on the outside of the head require moving up one size (order a bag for a 16" djembe). I play this a bit each day, and I love the sound, feel and look of it. I recommend it, especially for beginners such as I am.

Beautiful drum with an incredible sound! There was a small dent in the head but it doesn't seem to effect the sound.

I'm brand new to drumming, but I lucked into buying this Remo djembe when I found it online. I was drawn to the colorful, intricate imagery on the drum and the matching drum head. I'd done some research and knew that the American-made Remos sound a little different than their traditional African counterparts -- Remos are higher with less of an imposing bass sound, especially on slaps. But the Remos have an added feature that, in my opinion, gives them a leg up on their African competition: It takes no time at all to tune or change out the drum head on a Remo. I've started taking hand drum lessons, and my instructor doesn't even know how to do those things to an African drum.Like I said, I'm an absolute beginner at all this, but I know what I like. Even when I'm not playing it, my Remo djembe makes me smile. It just looks so good.
