I had the same watch for eleven years. It was a solar powered piece but the battery was starting to fail. I wear a watch to tell me the time. I came across the Vostok range on Amazon and liked the look of them, functional and not too flash. I read the reviews and there were two recurring comments: they come in a cheap plastic box and the bracelet pulls the hairs on your wrist. The watch arrived two days early, yes in a cheap plastic box but I'm not going to wear the box and anyway that probably keeps the production costs down. I took the watch out of the box (that is actually the end of the box's useful life) and wow! this is a solid piece of kit, a good looking functional watch. I followed the instructions (in English) and set the time and date. I wound it up manually as advised in the instructions. I then put it on my wrist. The bracelet did pull a hair or two but I'm tough enough to put up with that. It looks good. The dial is easy to read, the luminous hands and digits show up brightly in the dark, the stainless steal case and bracelet are shiny and well made. I have had this watch only five days but since the original manual wind the automatic winder has taken over and not a second has been gained or lost. If that changes I will update this review. For now I am delighted with this watch and recommend it to anyone who wears a watch to tell the time.

The Vostok Komandirskie is a well known watch among collectors and offers some quite unique features. They come in a wide variety of designs, so there's probably something to suit most people (do your research) and they're to be had for a very low price point and represent great value for money.This particular version has a bi-directional rotating bezel that does not click into place. For me, it's not a feature as much as a cost saving measure, but you should know before you purchase.Also, it has a unique (I think) screw down arrangement for the case back, that uses a clamp ring and a flat gasket, rather than the traditional screw down case back and o-ring. This forms a waterproof seal when fitted, and apparently becomes more water resistant the deeper you dive. (Unusually, mine wasn't actually fitted properly, but hey-ho, it took me 30 seconds to resolve.)Finally, the crown function/feel is downright odd.... It feels loose and disengaged, and you can't advance the date on it's own (you have to alternate between 9pm and 3 am to change the date). I'm led to believe that this is a design feature too (but can't for the life of me think why).So, why am I giving 5 stars when the points above seem to be rather critical? Well, it's all part of the charm of this Russian made beauty with it's gilt hands, applied hour markers and domed acrylic crystal. It has a retro diver aesthetic and feel that you can't find elsewhere for anywhere near this price. Oh yeah, the bracelet is amazingly terrible too. But I've swapped it out for either a tropical rubber strap or a vintage Bond NATO from Watch Gecko. It looks great on either.So my advice is, understand (or embrace) this little watches shortcomings and enjoy it for what it is. An interesting and inexpensive automatic watch with bags and bags of character.

The main Time-piece of the watch Keeps Absolutely perfect time, I have had it for a couple months now and it hasn't varied by more than a few seconds. It Keeps itself well wound even with my somewhat sedentary Lifestyle.I only have 1 Minor Gripe with the whole thing, and that is, Probably a Subjective thing though I feel it is worth mentioning. The Strap Is somewhat "Itchy" on my wrist, Which could just be a personal skin sensitivity, It does at least do its job and feels Secure, so I shan't complain much, At most I'd remove 0.25 of a star for it and since I can't I'll leave it as a full 5 star, a new strap is a Neglegable cost afterall.TL:DR Great Watch, Strap may a little lacking but easy to replace. I received this watch for Christmas but it has stopped working 2 months later. Until then I was really pleased with it. I am unable to return it for repair or replacement as I am over the 30 day period. Amazon.uk is not helpful as it just tells me to contact the seller but when I try it just tells me " we're sorry, we were unable to load your order". This is probably not a fault of the seller but more with the fact that I can't get more helpful information from Amazon.uk. I would like to be contacted directly by either the seller or Amazon.uk with instruction of how to return this item due to the fact that it is after the 30 day period and I do not have the "return" button available to me anymore.

My husband went all Homer Simpson on me and brought me this watch for my birthday. Much to his disappointment I love this watch and enjoy wearing it (after changing the strap). The green face is striking and different and the bezel is an upgrade on looks from the standard Vostok.

Absolutely love my Vostok! Problem is, now I have one, I want another! Beautiful, characterful, non-derivative and solid Russian engineering. Ditched the strap for a silver striped nato - looks amazing.

Supplier: Arrived 10 days early than the estimated time, even we were just before Xmas. Excellent service.The watch is a modern build of Russian and Soviet history. There is uniqueness, simplicity where it can be, robustness and beautiful design. It is my first Vostok, but I am confident it won't be the last one.It is impossible to get a better watch for the same price. A watch that puts a smile when you see it.

I changed the original bracelet that it came with for a Nato strap for convenience although the metal bracelet is fine for normal use .
