Great Program and getting better.
Quickbooks is the 3rd book keeping software I have ever tried and love it. The instructions in the first version I bought were very in-depth and complete, and not only explained the workings of the program but also helped in explaining the process of book keeping and some of the tips and procedures needed to do efficient book keeping. The only problem I had was in the early versions it seemed the program was not geared toward service type business so much, but that has been addressed in the later versions. I now have QB 2013 and absolutely love it. Another thing I like is that the program gives you an option not only for feed back but also a place where you can give suggestions on how to improve the program. When I had 2010 I submitted a few improvements suggestions that were service business related and in the 2013 version, those improvements were in the program. There are many more features and things I love about Quickbooks that are too numerous to name here, but Quickbooks is the only book keeping program I will ever use.The first program I tried was Peachtree but that was not what I was looking for and was confusing and hard to get working. The other one I tried back when the 386 computers first came out was Outlook, which I hated, could not understand and didn’t do anything for me at all and still hate to this day. Quickbooks on the other hand guided me through what I needed to know, and when I had a problem I couldn't get around, there was always a friendly tech to help (mostly the problems I had were problems with my own thinking or ignorance of book keeping) who guided me with kindness and understanding.

Better, but still have issues
I think most of my issues stem from the company, not the software. I was on the phone for half an hour just to get the program registered and get my 6 digit verification code.... (online registering is not an option with them)But, I do like the product. It's a little easier to navagate than QB Pro 09 and it has the favorites option. Everything is basically the same but it's got a more updated look.I have had some trouble with it connecting to the printer. I think it might be because I hibernate my computer at night and it must lose the connection from that. I just restart QB and it's fine.We updated because we updated to Windows 7 and QB Pro 09 is not compatable with Windows 7. Found it cheaper here than anywhere else at the time.Overall? Good product for small businesses.

Convoluted Registration Process
I just upgraded from the 2003 version because I have a new computer with Windows 7 and my previous version, although it met my needs, seemed like it was old enough to get a newer version.Installation was a breeze and went quickly. Moving the company file from one computer to another was actually easy, but not because the directions were good. The installation quick start guide refers you to help to find out how to move. But Help doesn't have directions for the prior version I had. It told me to do something my version didn't do. However a simple back-up to a thumb drive and restore on the new system got the old file in and updated to the new version.Registration was a royal pain! First you have to type in a bunch of information into their web site, then you have to enter a long code and product number from the box. Then you have to call a phone number, probably in India, and talk to someone who does not speak clear English. Then you have to repeat much of the information you previously typed in. Including some stuff which is just designed to open a sales pitch for more add-on services. Why do they ask whether I process credit cards on the web site, then tell me on the phone message while I am waiting for a real person that they have credit card processing service, then ask again during the phone call, then pitch a free trial of the credit card processing service? My other gripe is that with early versions of Quickbooks, Intuit provided a year or two of tax table service with each version so that you could do basic payroll. This is now only available at what I consider an outrageous price for a 1-2 person company.Another gripe with Intuit is that their interface between Turbotax and Quickbooks only works for a version back of Quickbooks. This makes no sense to me when Intuit can easily upgrade the company file to the current version during installation. Why can't Turbotax use the same function to import Quickbooks data into Turbotax?Although I am optimistic the basic accounting features will be at least as good as older versions, I wonder how many features I will run across that need a something new I have to pay for in order to use them.I can't give this product more than two stars when the registration process is so convoluted and it doesn't include basic tax tables.

Continuation of an excellent program
We have used Quickbooks in our business for over 10 years and have found it to be user friendly and full featured. Everything you need to run a small business and prepare financial information for your accountant. This is the third or fourth version we have purchased--each upgrade has gone smoothly including this one to the 2010 version which is compatible with Windows 7. We are upgrading in order to meet compliance requirements for credit card processing that require the use of Windows 7 for security purposes, but we would have upgraded next year anyway because there are always new features being added to the basic program. I would highly recommend this product for ease of use and its many features.
