The bundys: year four
All twenty three episodes from classic sitcom married with childrens fourth year are presented here in one dvd box, spread across three discs.Married with children is loved for having a more realistic view of family life than some. Al Bundy was seemingly destined for great things after scoring four touchdowns in a single game of football. But life didn't work out and he works for minimum wage selling ladies shoes to support his family, lazy grasping wife peg, bimbo daughter kelly and would be ladies man bud.Full of sharp writing, strong character based comedy, and painfully real situations, it's a classic of it's kind. Each episode runs approx twenty five minutes. The theme tune - the song love and marriage - couldnt be put on the dvds due to rights issues so be aware that they have different opening music to what you may be used to from tv showings. As with previous seasons this is the region one dvd converted straight over to region two thus the trailers for new movies and shows on it are a bit out of date. The show does also see a cast change late on in the season when actor David Garrison, who plays next door neighbour Steve, decided to move on. He gets written out without being seen and with a quick word of explanation at the beginning of one episode. Actor Ted McGinley who would later replace him as Jefferson in later years of the show appears in this season in part two of the story it's a bundyful life, but he's playing a totally different character to the one he'd play later.Dvd language tracks: English hungarian french german.Subtitles: English Dutch French German Hungarian.A very welcome release for some classic comedy. Here's hoping the remaining seasons will come to region two soon.

Superb
This series is one of those extremely rare things, a comedy programme that is actually funny. A series that can actually make you laugh out loud. This contrasts with 99% of 'comedy' programmes (UK and USA), including countless popular classics, that are about as funny as watching paint dry.It is also hugely risque bordering on the blue. Some of the lines delivered by Al and Peggy would make the writers of 'Shameless' think twice. Quite how this programme was ever shown before the watershed is bewildering. In the UK, Peggy's maiden name was blurred on TV, on this DVD it is pronounced loudly and often (UK viewers beware!).This series has all participants approaching their peak and cast-wise culminates in Marcy's husbands departure to get a job as a warden in Jellystone National Park. The DVD plays on UK machines and I sensed no editing or abridgement of any kind. The only disappointment is that due to copyright the theme tune is replaced by a slightly irritating cheapo soundtrack. Use the fast-forward button to get you to the Bundy's even faster. Priceless. Brilliant. Superb.

An overlooked classic
This was a gem of a show that somehow slipped through the net here. (despite a dreadful UK version with Russ Abbott)The down trodden Al Bundy brilliantly played by Ed O'Neill has had ever hope, wish and dream crushed by life, bad luck and more recently his family. The lazy bon-bon eating Peggy, ditzy and tarty Kelly and Bud, a bright boy but doomed because he is a Bundy. Oh yes he is also desperate to lose his viginity. After a slow start with its first year, a pick up of years two and three this is where the show really hits its stride. Als regrets at his lost youth and potential to end up a shoesales man which is the butt of dozens of jokes. This is the Brady Bunch, My Family and Family Ties with the gloves off and a lot of beers downed. If you like your comedy with more than a hint of grimness, Al often prays for a sweet merciful death, check this out.

My copy of this series had been damaged so I haven't seen this for ages. My husband and I are addicted. Love Al Bundy and his rotten family

80's Heaven
Things seemed to be at around their peak at around season 4 so I thought this would be a good season to buy. Good quality and good sound. In fact, the only real negative that ruins it for me is that dreadful, dreadful theme tune they have replaced the original with, which really ruins it all sadly. This said, good buy if you were a fan of the show!

Great Stuff!
Loved the series the first time I saw it. Ed O'Neill steals the show in Modern Families and watching this you can see why. Very Funny!

Hysterical
Wanna laugh during the holidays? This CD set does the trick. Besides other episodes the real reason I purchased was because I wanted the Christmas episode with Sam Kinison which is in 2 parts. We are big fans from way back and to find this available was our Christmas present to us and the family. Lots of laughs.

SEASON 4 ROCKS!
This 1989-90 Season of the Bundy's is awesome and is even better than the first 3 seasons of this show, despite the unfortunate fact that this is the season when Marcy's husband Steve Rhoades(David Garrison) departs from the show in the Winter of 1990.I liked seeing Tiffany-Amber Thiessen on MARRIED WITH CHILDREN before her SAVED BY THE BELL days and BEVERLY HILLS 90210 days, since they showed Tiffany Amber Thiessen as a guest star before she was even famous along with the fact that nobody knew that Tiffany-Amber Thiessen was going to become a co-star on SAVED BY THE BELL and BEVERLY HILLS 90210 when she guest starred on MARRIED WITH CHILDREN as Bud's prom date(Heather McCoy). Therefore, seeing Tiffany-Amber Thiessen on MARRIED WITH CHILDREN was almost like seeing some casts colliding between SAVED BY THE BELL and MARRIED WITH CHILDREN, since seeing Kelly next to Heather McCoy on the Bundys was almost like watching the casts colide between Kelly Bundy(Christina Applegate) and Kelly Kopowski(Tiffani-Amber Thiessen) along with the fact that Christina Applegate was the hottest and best looking co-star on MARRIED WITH CHILDREN and Tiffani-Amber Thiessen was the hottest and best looking co-star on SAVED BY THE BELL.I also liked the episode when Al(Edward O'Neill) fantasizes about himself being a James Bond type character hero in the episode when Al, Kelly, and Bud go to Las Vegas to track down Peggy(Kate Sagal) and Marcy(Amanda Bearse) after they get stranded there after going broke from nutso gambling while Marcy tries to get over her divorce from Steve, which reminds me of my teenage days of living in the Imperial Valley since I was a Junior in high school in my hometown(El Centro, CA)at the time when this season was running on Fox.By the way I just got word that the Bundy's 11th Season is now in the works and is scheduled to be released this Fall on October 13th, 2009 and I can hardly wait either since the 1996-97 Season was the last and final season of the Bundy's on top of that.
