Direct Fit 2012 RAV4
It was a direct fit for my vehicle, was easy to install, and works like it is supposed to.

Worked well in my 2010 Rav4 V6 Sport.
Our Rav4 came with the trailer tow package, and the Trailer Connector control box died due to vibration over the years. Apparently the installer left it dangling in the inner fender, banging around. When I received this, everything went together great. The harness plugs for the tail lights fit perfectly. I ran the main power wire all the way up to the positive post clamp of the battery, as the directions stated, and bingo! It all worked as it was supposed to.When running the main power wire, I ran it inside the vehicle under the door sill trim to protect it from the elements. It is not in a position where it can be pinched, and I ran it through an existing harness grommet under the left side of the dash at the firewall. I used zip ties to keep the wire where I want it and it looks very neat.I finished the installation the morning we left on a 1400 mile trip with our trailer. The Rav4 has LED tail lamps, the trailer has regular incandescent lamps, and everything worked just right.

Easy to install, works just fine
Installation instructions are pretty bad, but videos are very easy to find and the installation itself is quite straight forward. Great product.

Works well but shorts out
I think I have a short on my trailer and it keeps frying the module. It should just trip the fuse.

Good kit, slightly fussy installation
Used this kit on my 2012 RAV4 EV and it overall worked like a charm. Didn’t bother running the line all the way up to the battery since there was already a 12v 150 watt line in the back cargo area that I could splice into for power. Technically this only powers the flat four output when the car is on, but that’s when it really matters anyhow. My two small complaints are 1) it would have been nice to have a tiny bit more slack between the right and left tail light connectors (at this price 6” more wire would have made the routing work a little easier) and 2) the flat four connector is just a tiny bit wider than other brands... just enough wider that it couldn’t be routed out the stock storage area’s drain plug, as suggested. Neither issue was critical, but it made the kit feel a little cheap and made installation a little less pleasant than some other brands I’ve used in the past.

Came with everything needed
I hate installing wiring harness. This harness went in easily enough and it had enough cable to actually reach the battery for hookup. I didn't have to add anything to this. I did order a mount for the cable that hooks to the trailer plug and ran that cable through a knock out and attached it to the tow hitch, but that is not required.

Makes getting trailer lights easy
Great estimate get trailer lights. This was plug and play on my rav4

but once I saw that I needed auxiliary power for the Rav4 and the price of this kit wasn't too bad, I bought it instead
This worked really well, and was a lot easier than trying to splice everything together correctly. I had been planning on doing the wiring in my Rav4 myself and just splicing it in to the existing wiring as I did on my last vehicle, but once I saw that I needed auxiliary power for the Rav4 and the price of this kit wasn't too bad, I bought it instead. I definitely don't regret that decision. As some reviewers have mentioned, it should be possible to wire this in to the cigarette lighter in the back rather than running it all the way to the battery, but I just ran it through the interior like at least one other reviewer i mentioned and it wasn't all that bad. For those wanting to follow suit, you'll want to come through the firewall behind the glovebox, in the upper-right corner if I remember correctly. The whole thing fits into the side panel on the left side of the vehicle right by the rear door. It's really quite nice, as the cable is plenty long to run through the door, and keeping it inside the vehicle when not pulling a trailer protects it.

Straight forward installation.
Bought this for a 2007 Rav4. Spent more time running power supply to battery than anything else. Installing this harness should be doable for anyone with basic skills. Also, there are some very good how to videos available on line.

Easy to install, everything included
This is the second Curt trailer light system I've installed. The first time it was a bit more daunting, but this time, having done it once before, it was a complete piece of cake. Curt takes care to include everything you need and this kit is well thought out. Zap straps, screw for ground wire, fuse for the power lead. About the hardest part is running the power line under the vehicle and up into the engine compartment. You need to take care to route it around moving parts and anything that gets hot (exhaust system). In the RAV4, you can route the 4 pin flat connector out a grommet in the lower compartment in the rear of the vehicle - there's just barely enough room to run it there.

Works great on my 2010 Rav4
Relatively easy to install if you're somewhat handy. Took me about 2 hours to install, but I saved a few hundred $$ compared to the price my local shop was asking.

Good kit for the money
Update (Dec 26, 2017): So after a few months of being exposed to the elements, the connector still looks new. Hooked it up to a trailer and had zero issues. All lights and flashers function as they should. I tested this with a tester prior to and the trailer hookup just reaffirms this. Also, I did not experience any electrical anomalies as experienced by someone who had posted a review prior to.Got this for my 2012 Rav4. The kit came complete with all the items listed. All you need are some tools which are listed in the instructions. The one thing that would make your life a lot easier is if you picked up a trim removal kit. It will come in handy but if you don't have that you can always pry carefully with a long screw driver.I would highly recommend checking out the youtube videos on how they run the wiring and how the panels come part. I searched: "2012 Rav4 hitch wiring". The most time consuming part was running the power wire. In the videos, all the vehicles are on the hoist so it's easy to run the wires where you need them to go. I did not have that luxury and many of you likely won't either. So here's a tip, start from the front and work your way to the back, it's much easier to fish the wires down from the engine bay vs coming from below. Tie a flexible rod to the wire so you can guide it down. Once you have the wire down there, you can thread it through the fuel tank straps on the side, that will keep the wires hidden and out of the way. Run it all the way back and push it through the grommet in the trunk (watch the youtube videos, they start from the trunk). You'll need to locate the grommet first, remove it and then fish a flexible rod down there. It will show when you look from the bottom. Once you have the wire run through, you can tie to the rod and fish it up. What I did was use the grommet for both the trailer lights and the power wire. If you watch both the videos, one shows going through the grommet and the other shows it hanging out the rear door. The kit is basically plug and play. You do not need to cut any of the factory wires. There is enough length for running the adapters to the factory lights. The supplied power wire is a bit short. I don't mean it is short that you won't get it form front to back but there is barely extra slack for a longer route if you choose to. If you have a route in mind, best to get a small spool of your own. I was a bit worried when running the wire but I had just enough slack in the trunk and the engine bay.If there were improvements to this kit, I'd like to have an extra foot of so of power wire. The grounding point can be to any metal part. I am not a fan of tapping into anything that will be exposed to water. I elected to tap the screw onto the bracing found in the nut wrench compartment. Hope the tip makes it easier for someone.
