The size and construction seem to be great. However, don't think you're vacuum sealing whatever's inside. A simple valve lets air out that wouldn't fit inside when slid closed but there's still air inside with your contents. Also, being made of 2 pieces of plastic sliding against each other to open or close, results in static electricity on a small scale but enough that lighter, substances like dried parsley cling to the edges inside and out and mostly where the 2 pieces rub. Bits of those type of spices/herbs then end up jamming up smooth opening/closing. For larger products, like a garlic clove it's probably great. But still not a vacuum. Sorry.

Just to be clear with why I got this ... I made the mistake of buying the larger size (3 oz) TightVacs before this. Way too big for what I needed.This is much better for my purposes. As another reviewer wrote, these are great for matches or medicine or vitamins or other small items you want kept together and kept dry. Also, these aren't a powered vacuum seal (should be obvious but it needs saying). So this isn't exactly an "air tight" seal. None of the TightVacs I've tried are. They are not truly air tight or smell proof. Thanks to their cool design, they get a little bit of a suction/seal going on with the lid but it isn't air tight. Just saying. If that is what you need, don't buy these. Of course, they greatly reduce smell but that's not exactly the same thing now is it?Will they more or less keep everything nice and dry? Yes. They are handy little containers. Nothing really wrong with them. Also, I haven't had any issues with the lid being too tight or too loose (yet).Because I had a pretty high bar (total smell proof), I didn't want to "punish" this container with just 3 stars. So it gets 4 as it didn't fail me and even though it isn't truly air tight, I didn't really expect something like this to be able to do that. Just can't do 5 stars because I had really high hopes for it in the smell proof regard and it didn't deliver.

I had never heard of TightVac until I started working for a private coffee vendor. We store all of our freshly roasted coffee for the office in these and I decided to buy a few for myself.At home, I use them for coffee, sugar, flour, potato chips, bread... pretty much anything!I always have a few in my camping gear too. Great for keeping matches or other firestarter dry, medicine and of course... food.This one is perfect for matches and small things. I showed it to a friend and they thought it would be perfect to store "herbal remedies."Sometimes, the seal seems to break though and the top will go on or come off effortlessly, haven't really found a solution for that.Other times, however the top seems IMPOSSIBLE to get on and off. If you can manage to wiggle it off, you can lube it up with a little vegetable oil and it should slide on again.

Was having a hard time keeping the odors at bay but this little container fixed the problem.

Love love love these. Can't wait until I need some in other sizes! There is absolutely NO SMELL that comes out of these when used properly. And they're pretty much dummy proof.

Works good, but having herb in it it gets hard to open/close

this container has a 100% airtight seal. I have bought two of these so far a red and a blue both have been beneficial to keeping certain smells out. To keep it working efficiently make sure to clean the keep the inside of the top cow clean the peace that it slides onto for the bottom.

Yes it is called Tighvac but it's in a way false advertising as it is not a vacuum seal system at all. So in that regards it is quite disappointing but it is a cool container which somewhat will keep some of the smell in but not completely.Just be aware of that when making your purchase.

A bit disappointed as it is not really vacuum-sealed. Can open easily without pushing the button.

No es hermético,lo utilizo para transportar especies y huele.

Great for storing all my herbs with no smell. Keeps it fresh for when I am ready to bake!
