They say it fits but it doesn't
I installed this filter on my 1964 Buick Skylark with the 300 cubic inch V-8 (4.9 l). It did fit as far as the threads are concerned but driving the car I noticed it left an oil spot on the garage floor. Investigation revealed that oil was leaking from the filter gasket.The original filter is a PF-7 which is no longer available at realistic prices ($87.00 ???).I removed the filter for inspection and found that the diameter of the filter gasket was not the same as the mating surface on the oil pump. The width of the gasket needs to be slightly narrower than the mating surface to get a good seal. When the gasket is wider than the mating surface it will leak. I learned this the hard way a long time ago when I worked in a gas station.I had to go to the parts store and spent an hour measuring filter gaskets from similar model engines until I found one that would fit properly.BOTTOM LINE: If you have a vehicle with an engine from this family (215, 300, 340, 350, 231, 3.8L), make double sure the filter isn't leaking or use another brand.
