Portable CD Player
These are no longer manufactured, so it was great that I was able to get one again. with the plus of an AM/FM radio..

OK but was disappointed in appearance and reception
For the money I hadn't expected it to be all scratched up. It didn't say anything about it being so worn. The sound is great when you get reception. When you are inside, you have a 50/50 shot of getting reception specifically on AM.

Terrific Portable CD
I wasn't so impressed with this player until I used THEIR earphones. Some of the best for this type of equipment. If the player lasts longer than the Sony players I've had (the amplifier chip fried), I'm completely satisfied.

Nice CD Player with AM/FM Stereo tuner.
I bought this unit for my wife for Christmas and have found it to be an overall excellent unit thus far. It has excellent non fatiguing sound. That is it does not have sizzling over emphazised highs nor heavy boomy bass. If you want that, look elsewhere. The sound is well balanced. The two bass boost settings do come in handy at certain times when they do actually enhance the sound to make it sound better without over-doing it and causing listener fatigue. The AM/FM Stereo tuner reception is very good. It is as good as my top of the line Sony cassette AM/FM Stereo walkman unit from a few years ago. And I thought that Sony walkman was excellent. So this Aiwa tuner is just as good in reception of signals but this Aiwa sounds better IMO, more neutral (less sizzly highs)than my Sony walkman. This unit had the "scratchy, noisey" headphone jack problem that I read about on other AIWA models. But I found out how to cure (fix) that problem! Simply insert the headphone plug into the jack and turn it around 360 degrees inside the jack a few times to scrape all of the electrical contacts clean. Apparently the headphone jacks in these units have a slight coating of dirty oxidation on them. This is a minor concern and is fixed by doing what I suggested above. Try it if you have this problem and it will clean it up! The scratchy noise has not returned on my unit and the cnnection is totally reliable now. With that, I find this unit worth every penny I spent for it and rate it excellent for sound quality.

Absolutely the BEST portable CD player for the money!
This is my second portable CD player. My first was a Sony, but it ate batteries and skipped like crazy. I've had the AIWA for about four months and use it almost daily. I use it primarily while jogging and on a rowing machine. I thought there would be some skipping, but there hasn't been any. I use rechargeable batteries and I'm surprised at how long it holds a charge. I especially like the "indicator" that tells you when you need to replace or recharge your batteries. If you're using rechargeable batteries, AIWA supplies an adapter so that you can recharge the batteries through the CD player. I can't think of anything that I don't like about the AIWA. It has and does everything that I need and want in a portable CD player. So far, it's been the best electronic item that I've purchased in the past 12 months.

I Love This product
I researched so many products and I am so glad that i bought this one!!! The headphones are comfortable and the sound is wonderful!! It's great having the AM-FM radio with the cd player. It has so many great features and i recommend it to all of you reading this! The price is not too bad and it is worth it!! I bought mine at Circuit City and it was ($$$) I absolutely love it!!!!! It's a nice looking player too. What also is nice is the lock on it. It also has a hold button on the side which prevents it from turning on when you dont want it to. You also can set 15 stations on the FM radio so all you do is search through the stations you like. It also has 15 on the AM for a total of 30 preset stations! This is a wonderful cd player with the radio! Don't hesitate to not buy this cause you think that all you need is the CD! Its so nice to be able to listen to the radio too. I can not stress how much i love it!!!!!

Defective??
I like the advertised features- 48 sec. anti-shock memory, DSL bass, CD-R/RW playback, radio tuner. This would be a great CD player if it wasn't defective!! The radio tuner often "freezes" for no apparent reason. I then have to remove the batteries to un-freeze it and I lose all of my preset stations. This is a real inconvenience if you're out walking or jogging! Also, the single track repeat mode does not work. In the beginning I also had problems with the headphone output, but that seems to have cleared up. Perhaps my unit is defective or perhaps they are all like mine- I wouldn't know- AIWA didn't include any contact information so I don't even know how to get service on the darn thing and it's been to long to return it to the store!
