Works good. If you don’t have these things at home already I ended up buying a few other sheets of sandpaper for final polishing that works as it should.

I had previously made notched axles for the Pack pinewood derby race, but found out our pack did not allow them (check your pack rules). I stayed up till 12am the night before the race polishing a new 'unnotched' set. We won the Pack Fastest trophy out of 37 cars! Advice - get a $1.99 metal file with rubber grip from Harbor Freight to handle the heavy removal of flash and ridges (and to bevel the head) before using the small file included for any final cleanup before polishing. A nice thing also to have is a Helping Hands tool (again from HF or other magnifying glass with stand) and I used a LED headlamp for better light to see my progress.Use extra time with the 400 grit - this will really help the finer grits work better. Dip the sand paper strip you are working with in a bowl of water every 10 seconds or so during each step of sandpaper grit - you want to have the paper with beads of water up against the axle while you are working it all the time to help carry away the filings. I have tried a lot of things over the years, but a good axle polish combined with axle head is the main key.

This is a good little system for polishing Pinewood derby axles. It gives you clear instructions and provides all the tools needed. To buy all of this separately would be a hassle and cost 3x the price. The materials are all not super high quality, but it gets the job done. My son's car won his den!And this kit should serve to do at least 4-6 cars, so we are set to use this kit for several years to come. Just have to remember where we store it each year ;)

Delivery was fast and price was good, so seller did great..... but the actual kit itself is a different store.The magnifying glass was cheap and realy not much of a help. I have pretty amazing eye sight though so maybe more help for others. The file was clanky and had to use mainly due to it being cheaply made. The sand paper assortment to me was probably the best part of the kit.I'd recoment the seller again in a heartbeat but I'd suggest speding a little bit extra and going to your local hardware store to buy better grade stuff before buying this kit.

Great kit for getting your axles (nails) ready for a derby. It comes with everything you need. We actually ended up winning our Scout derby this year too!

Worked very well for removing the burrs on the axles and then sanding. Used a couple of my own sheets of finer paper than it came with.

Fantastic boost to my son’s derby car performance. Took home second place! Great product.
